Process Engineer Packaging

Accelsius is developing revolutionary direct-to-chip cooling technology applicable in the data center, in 5G edge deployments, and in embedded applications such as electric vehicles.
Accelsius is looking for a seasoned and experienced Packaging Engineer to help drive the design and implementation of manufacturing packaging designs and processes specifically associated with product protection during storage or transport in advance of rapid product and company growth. This position reports directly to the Vice President Mfg Operations and the right candidate will provide strong strategic and tactical thought leadership backed with a proven track record of successful execution and subject expertise to drive operational excellence and growth of manufacturing and packaging operations.
Role Responsibilities:
- Establish raw material, component, and product packaging requirements working closely with Product Development, Operations Engineering, Procurement, and associated Supplier teams.
- Develop packaging design, testing, and quality check processes and procedures.
- Primary process owner of the packaging area and associated packaging equipment & tools.
- Provide technical expertise and support to manufacturing pack-out and packaging area output by developing efficient packaging fixtures, jigs, lifting tools, or associated tracking software.
- Conduct failure analysis to address specific and systematic failures associated with product packaging design, packaging processes, or other contributors to package nonconformances.
- Work with engineering teams to ensure requirements for future components, systems, or product packaging are enabled and scaled for planned volume ramp.
- Liaise with component suppliers or contract manufacturers to implement product packaging requirements and specifications, generate and analyze transport test data, and develop shipping inspection criteria and tracking for increased product delivery quality and safety.
- Establish accurate packaging Bill of Materials (BOM), packaging support supplies, and package tracking methods or systems to ensure timely delivery of protected products to the end user.
- Collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality, Product Engineering, and other Operation teams to ensure smooth delivery of products and mitigation of potential risks to output supply.
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory requirements and industry standards promoting a culture of safety throughout manufacturing and packaging operations
Qualifications for this role include:
- Bachelor of Science degree in engineering or a relevant technical field
- 4+ years relevant experience with previous roles showing progressively increasing responsibility over systems, methods, and scope of projects related to components and product packaging.
- Ability to develop packaging requirements, specifications, plans, procedures, and reports for packaging development and product qualification, verification, and validations.
- Ability to design packaging tools and fixtures as needed. Experience with AutoCAD, SolidWorks or similar drawing/design software skills a plus.
- Ability to carry out detailed transport testing plans for both domestic and international package shipments and implement improvements to materials, processes, or procedures.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Experience designing, building and operating fixtures used in packaging.
- Experience with AutoCAD, Solidworks or other design/drawing software.
- Must bring curiosity, a willingness to be hands-on, professionalism, a positive attitude and a focus on problem solving.
Additional qualifications below are a plus:
- Experience in establishing production processes and procedures in a start-up environment.
- Previous experience in high volume mechanical processing and assembly of mechanical/electrical based products.
- Experience with high pressure refrigerant vessels or tanks.
- Experience with boxing, palletizing, crating, and shipping of materials or assemblies.
- Strong background in lean manufacturing principles, process optimization and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Excellent leadership and team interface skills with the ability to motivate and inspire others.
- Knowledge of domestic and international regulations and standards related to packaging, crating, and shipping.
- Professional certification in one or more related fields of expertise is also helpful, but not required.
