Community Service Officer Part-Time - 16 hrs/week bei Carver County, MN

About the Department

Carver County is looking for an energetic person to fill our part-time Community Service Officer role. Under the direction of the Sergeant of Patrol Services Division the Community Service Officer (CSO) provides support services for the various divisions within the Sheriff's Office. Requires working flexible and varied schedules to meet the needs of the Sheriff's Office and the contracting communities. This position is non-sworn and requires the CSO to work and perform in varying climatic conditions.

This position will work 16 hours per week and is not eligible for benefits.

In-person interviews will be held Wednesday, November 5.

Position Duties

• Enforce local ordinances of the contracting communities relating to animals.
• Provide support to the patrol services division.
• Educate community members on the care of domestic animals and neighborhood watch programs.
• Act as a liaison with contract community leaders and city/township contracted kennels.
• May assist in scheduling CSOs into contract communities to fulfill the contractual obligations.
• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED 

• Two (2) years of related experience

• Valid MN Drivers License or ability to obtain with 60 days of employment

Preferred Qualification:

• Enrollment in a law enforcement program or interest in law enforcement as a career.  This position may facilitate a pathway to a career as a licensed Deputy Sheriff  upon fulfillment of any necessary educational requirements.

Other Qualifications

All applications will be screened for minimum qualifications, scored and ranked.  The highest ranked candidates meeting minimum qualifications will be recommended for the scored oral examinations (interviews).  Top candidates successfully passing the oral interview(s) will be sent to the background process.  Conditional offers will be made to those candidates successfully passing the background, with the number of offers being proportionate to the number of vacancies. Final selection for the position will include successful completion of oral interview(s), reference checks, CJIS background investigation, psychological evaluation, and pre-placement physical.
