General Summary: The Learning & Development manager is responsible for leading the full employee development lifecycle to meet organizational goals. This includes identifying and developing talent, optimizing training, enhancing organizational career pathways, fostering engagement, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and safety standards. The role combines strategic planning with hands-on leadership to deliver impactful learning experiences that strengthen organizational capability and performance.
Supervisory responsibilities:
- Lead, coach, and develop the training and development team to ensure high-quality program delivery.
- Recruit, interview, hire, and onboard team members.
- Provide regular feedback and conduct timely, constructive performance evaluations.
- Manage team performance, including corrective actions and terminations, in accordance with company policy.
- Promote a collaborative, innovative, and accountable team culture.
Requirements
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
Strategic Learning Leadership
- Partner with organizational leaders to assess and prioritize current and future training needs.
- Design and execute a comprehensive learning and development strategy that supports organizational goals, including leadership development, operations, safety, and compliance.
- Establish clear success metrics to evaluate learning effectiveness and ensure continuous improvement.
Program Development & Execution
- Develop and deliver engaging instructor-led and virtual learning experiences using modern instructional methods.
- Design and curate curriculum for leadership, operational excellence, and inclusion initiatives.
- Identify and manage external training vendors and partnerships as needed.
- Integrate real-world application and feedback mechanisms to enhance skill transfer and employee retention.
Talent Development & Career Pathing
- Create and maintain career development frameworks and succession plans to build internal talent pipelines.
- Partner with HR to strengthen onboarding, ensuring a consistent and impactful employee experience.
- Leverage assessments, performance reviews, and various forms of input to help leaders identify high potential and technical talent. Support leaders in coaching, performance management, and career planning efforts.
Operational Excellence
- Implement process improvements that enhance training delivery, tracking, and reporting.
- Maintain accurate data on training activities and outcomes to inform business decisions.
- Partner with leaders to align talent development efforts with organizational values and goals.
- Use analytics dashboards and reporting tools to communicate trends, progress, and opportunities to senior leadership.
Professional Growth & Industry Awareness
- Stay current on best practices and trends in learning, development, and talent management through continued education, professional networks, and industry research.
- Designs engaging, learner-centered programs using adult learning principles.
- Utilizes blended learning methods (in-person, virtual, e-learning, microlearning).
- Adapts instructional techniques to diverse audiences and learning styles.

Travel Required: Ability to travel up to 10%.
Required education and/or work experience:
- Bachelor’s degree with minimum of 5 years’ related experience required OR post high school education/ certifications with a minimum of 5 years’ related experience.
- At least 2 years of supervisory experience, required.
