Position Overview

The Accounting Manager is responsible for managing the day-to-day accounting functions, ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining compliance with regulations, and supporting the Director of Finance in budgeting and strategic financial analysis. 


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee daily operations of the accounting department, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, month-end/year-end closing processes, billing, and payroll. 
  • Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements and reports to Partners and firm leadership.
  • Assist with annual budget process and periodic forecasting. 
  • Maintain IOLTA account compliance and documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local tax laws applicable to the firm.
  • Prepare required tax filings; including sales and use tax, property tax, 1099, B&O, etc. 
  • Oversee client billing processes, resolve billing issues, and work with attorneys and staff to ensure timely and accurate invoices are sent out monthly. 
  • Identify and implement process improvements to improve efficiency and accuracy of financial operations. 
  • Supervise accounting staff providing direction and leadership to further the firm’s financial goals. 
  • Implement best practices and ensure cross-training and continuity within the department. 

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field (CPA preferred, but not required)
  • 4+ years of experience in accounting or finance, ideally with a professional services or law firm environment. 
  • Strong knowledge of accounting and financial compliance. 
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills. 
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven department. 
  • High attention to detail, discretion, and professionalism.

Salary Range

$120,000-$145,000 base compensation. Pay is determined based on a variety of factors including qualifications and depth of experience.


Other Compensation

Other compensation may include bonuses, profit sharing, and HSA employer contributions.
