About the role
The Consumer Safety function within Reckitt has the responsibility to ensure consumers’ safety for all of Reckitt’s products. It ensures the application of human and environmental risk assessment and the communication of issues that may impact consumer safety or regulatory toxicology across the Reckitt business.
It delivers this through the mitigation of human harm & environmental safety risks through the safety and toxicological review of ingredients, product, packaging and articles across the product lifecycle.
The function maximises automated platforms and leverages toxicological and scientific expertise to facilitate innovation, drive safety by design, ensure product compliance and deliver a competitive advantage to Reckitt.
The integrated Consumer Safety team has been created to drive the strategic agenda of the Department by delivering technical safety input in guidance and partnership with the business needs of Reckitt. Success in this space depends on a robust understanding of both science and commerce, and will ensure Reckitt always has the consumer at the heart of all it does.

Your responsibilities
The role will involve being part of a team (6-8) of dedicated scientists responsible for conducting human risk (toxicology) safety assessments and environmental toxicology assessments, to ensure the delivery of high quality, safety documentation and programmes to meet Reckitt safety requirements.
Support the Technical Safety team with the delivery of technically sound and timely requests
Learn how to conduct scientific literature reviews and be able to follow scientific and regulatory development in the applicable field of product safety knowledge and standards. ·
The individual will be responsible for ensuring that the Company safety standards are met for all and will help contribute to the development and maintenance of processes, policies, guidelines to drive high quality consistent deliverables. ·
Ensure that any assessments are performed applying current scientific knowledge, methods and in compliance with relevant regulations and legislation.
Conducting impact assessments for ingredients and products where appropriate and provide effective and timely communication to your line manager.
As necessary and in compliance with Reckitt policies, help co-ordinate and manage tests required to support product registration and safety.
Support the team with collation of safety documentation within our systems to support the product lifecycle and deliverables of the Consumer Safety team.
The experience we're looking for
- Alevels in science related disciplines and working towards a BSC in a relevant subject
- Ability to work in a fast-paced cross functional team environment purposed to deliver strong business results in a culturally diverse organisation
- You are self-motivated with strong initiative and drive and willingness to ensure the delivering of consistent and high-quality work to support the safety of Reckitt products
