The San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools office acts as an intermediate service agency between the California Department of Education and the 33 school districts in San Bernardino County to help meet the educational needs of all children county-wide. We are committed to working with our school districts, other agencies, families and the community at large by providing services, information and leadership, always with a focus on students.

Job Summary

The Psychologist provides psychological services to students assigned to the Desert Mountain Children’s Center; and serves as a learning and behavioral consultant to school personnel in matters related to program development, student placement, behavior plan development and implementation, and general mental health need determination. For this position, the Psychologist will assess children birth through six years old for cognitive abilities, behavioral strengths and weaknesses and mental health concerns. The Psychologist will make recommendations to school districts and the Desert Mountain Children’s Center regarding school placement, meeting criteria for special education and classroom strategies.

A valid California Driver’s License is required prior to the start of employment.

Requirements / Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS • Possession of a valid California Clear Pupil Personnel Services Credential: School Psychologist; • Two years of experience as a School Psychologist. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS • Possession of a valid California Licensed Educational Psychologist (LEP) License; • Knowledge of agencies providing services for persons with exceptional needs; • Behavior Intervention Case Management experience; • Experience working with children ages two through six diagnosed on the autism spectrum; • One (1) year of successful experience in a California school district or County Schools Office; • Bilingual (English/Spanish).
