Slate is seeking a servant-minded Corporate Controller who leads with integrity, collaboration, and accountability. As a trusted partner to the CFO, you’ll guide all accounting and control activities while fostering a culture of trust, transparency, and continuous improvement.
| WHAT YOU GET TO DO
As Slate’s Corporate Controller, you’ll oversee all accounting and control activities, ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial reporting. You’ll lead compliance with regulatory standards, support strategic decision-making through analysis and management reporting, and build and develop our exceptional accounting team. This senior leadership role reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer and plays a key part in strengthening Slate’s financial foundation as we continue to grow.
- Financial Reporting: Direct the preparation of accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements in accordance withS. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and SEC requirements.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensures compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX), SEC filings, and other relevant regulations for public companies.
- Internal Controls: Designs, implements, and monitors robust internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure financial integrity.
- Accounting Operations: Oversees the completion of general ledger activities leveraging existing and emerging technology that supports timeliness, speed and efficiency of all accounting activities.
- Technical Accounting: Lead the technical accounting determination and documentation process
- Audit Management: Acts as the primary liaison with external auditors; manages annual audit and quarterly reviews, addressing all audit findings and recommendations.
- Financial Analysis and Support: Work closely with the Financial Planning & Analysis group to support management decisions, budgeting, forecasting, and strategic initiatives.
- Team Leadership: Recruit, train, and supervise accounting staff, fostering professional development and ensuring high performance leveraging a Servant Leadership mindset.
- Process Improvement: Identify and implement opportunities for process automation using AI tools as well as other refinements to improve the accuracy, quality and efficiency within the Finance organization.
- Collaboration: Works closely with other departments (Financial Planning & Analysis, Treasury, Tax, Legal, Operations & C-suite) to ensure integrated financial management and compliance.
| WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TEAM
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master’s or MBA preferred).
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation required.
- Minimum 8-10 years of progressive accounting experience, including accounting roles within public companies, specifically involved with external reporting.
- In-depth knowledge of U.S. GAAP, SEC reporting, and SOX compliance.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Experience with enterprise financial systems (e.g., NetSuite, Workiva, Adaptive Insights) and advanced Excel skills.
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
