About the position
Reporting to the Centre Director, acts as an integral member of the Kids & Company team to assist in the overall management of day-to-day operations of all food preparation and cooking at the kitchen through the conscientious application of Kids & Company standards to achieve our mission statement.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for cooking, baking, and food preparation
- Ensure safe food storage and disposal, including maintaining temperature logs.
- Cook is responsible for preparing meals and snacks for children with special dietary needs
- Maintain the children’s allergy list regularly.
- Weekly ordering and receiving all food supplies, and replenishing dishware and cookware
- Follow food portioning guidelines and maintain appropriate food inventory
- Complies with all health regulations and the company’s best practices
- Upkeep kitchen cleaning schedule, including dishwashing, daily, weekly, and monthly duties
- Occasionally required to prepare food for field trips, school-age programs, and community events.
- Duties and responsibilities may change from time to time according to the needs of the daycare centers.
What you need
- Current Food Handler Certification
- Experience working with vulnerable populations
- Experience in a daycare environment would be an asset.
- Valid driver's license and a clean driver’s abstract.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Require a clean criminal record check
- Ability to push, pull and lift to 45 pounds
