Your Role
The Health Innovation Technology team is the technology innovation, research and development organization responsible for identifying, developing and market testing new products and services for Stellarus/Blue Shield. The Innovation Product Strategy Intern will report to the Director, Innovation Product Strategy. In this role you will get hands-on experience in early-stage product discovery, definition of functionality, and the delivery of prototypes, proofs-of-concepts and pilots for evaluation.

Responsibilities
Your Work
In this role, you will:
- Assist in identifying and exploring new product and service opportunities through market research and stakeholder engagement
- Collaborate with cross-functional team members to outline key features and requirements for emerging health innovation technologies.
- Contribute to the creation of early-stage prototypes and concept models to validate product ideas.
- Help plan and execute tests of product hypotheses to assess feasibility, usability, and market potential.
- Work closely with the Director of Innovation Product Strategy and other team members to align efforts with strategic goals.
Qualifications
Your Knowledge and Experience
- Currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in business, public health, healthcare administration, health informatics or related field.
- 1+ years of professional related experience, project, or coursework
- Strong interest in health technology, innovation strategy, and product development.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.
- Experience with market research, product design, or prototyping tools is a plus.
- Familiarity with healthcare systems, payer/provider models, or digital health trends is preferred.

As an intern at Blue Shield of California, you will:
- Participate in impactful projects during a 10-week internship program
- Undertake a 10-week curriculum designed to familiarize interns with BSC, leadership development, exposure to the healthcare industry, and more
- Be invited to participate in BSC employee events and networking opportunities such as Employee Resource Groups, employee volunteer activities, and more

Two Ways of Working:
- Hybrid (Default): Work from a business unit-approved office at least two (2) times per month (for roles below Director-level) or once per week (for Director-level roles and above). Exceptions:
o Member-facing and approved out-of-state roles remain remote.
o Employees living more than 50 miles from their assigned offices are expected to work with their managers on a plan for periodic office visits.
o For employees with medical conditions that may impact their ability to work in-office, we are committed to engaging in an interactive process and providing reasonable accommodations to ensure their work environment is conducive to their success and well-being.
- On-Site: Work from a business unit-approved office an average of four (4) or more days a week.
