Quest Defense Systems and Solutions is seeking a highly experienced and self-motivated System Engineer- DOORS specialist. As a System Engineer- DOORS specialist Responsible for administering, customizing, and optimizing the IBM DOORS environment to support cross-functional engineering teams. This role ensures seamless requirements management, tool integration, and automation through scripting, while maintaining system performance, access controls, and traceability across the engineering lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer and maintain the IBM DOORS environment for a multi-disciplinary engineering team.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to implement custom DOORS solutions for project-specific needs.
- Develop, maintain, and optimize DXL scripts to automate workflows and enhance tool performance.
- Troubleshoot and deploy updates to DOORS tools and integrations.
- Configure and maintain DOORS architecture, including access controls, baselines, and object hierarchies.
- Support validation & verification workflows and traceability analysis.
- Manage requirements import/export from Word, Excel, and other formats via scripting.
- Support CI/CD/CT pipelines and interface DOORS with engineering tools (e.g., Jira, Azure DevOps).
- Resolve DOORS ELM-related issues involving data, reports, and integrations.
- Coordinate with IT for hosting and deployment of engineering tools
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline from an accredited institution
- Minimum 7 years of hands-on experience administering IBM DOORS (versions 7, 8, or 9).
- Strong proficiency in DXL scripting for automation, validation, and tool customization.
- Experience with requirements tracing and generating traceability matrices for compliance.
- Familiarity with V&V workflows and use of DOORS tools for detecting traceability gaps.
- Experience importing/exporting requirements from Word, Excel, etc. via scripting.
- Skilled in setting up and maintaining DOORS project/module architecture, including baselines, attribute schema, and access control.
- Knowledge of baseline management, suspect links tracking, and change control processes.
- Ability to generate reports and support formal reviews and audits.
- Strong proficiency in Python and scripting for toolchain integration
- Familiarity with CI/CD/CT practices and integration with task management tools (e.g., Jira, Azure DevOps).
- Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git, SVN).
- Comfortable working in both Windows and Linux environments.
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently or in cross-functional teams.
- Technical writing skills for user guides and training materials.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience supporting large-scale systems engineering or defense-related programs.
- Familiarity with DOORS ELM web technologies and enterprise integration/customization.
- Experience deploying and maintaining engineering tools in enterprise environments.
- Understanding of industry standards such as DO-178C, ISO 26262, CMMI, or ARP4754A.
- Background in systems engineering or software development lifecycle (SDLC) processes.
