Purpose:
The Continuous Improvement Specialist leads the execution of Continuous Improvement initiatives of low complexity within a site / function in order to embed best practices, reinforce a continuous improvement mind-set and streamline non-value added activities.
Reporting Line:
The Continuous Improvement Specialist reports to the Site Operations Manager, with a dotted reporting line to the regional CI Business Partner
Core Responsibilities
Business Alignment
- Contribute to the design of Site/Business Unit strategies and deployment plans (CI roadmaps)
- Proactively identify and quantify improvement opportunities to meet site operational targets (financial and non-financial); develop action plans accordingly and monitor and report progress (PPM reporting)
People Engagement
- Support in deploying CI Awareness workshops to all teams (e.g. CI basics training)
- Promote, deploy, and monitor the correct use of global tools for operations (e.g. POKA, PPM, OKR)
- Enable everyone to actively share Good Practices (e.g. through active communication, newsletter)
- Introduce and coach VPMS as a universal practice for everyone in the organization to manage day-to-day performance
Capability Building
- Develop people by delivering training, coaching and mentoring for basic CI Methodologies
- Training includes: CI Basics (5S, 8Wastes, Problem Solving), Yellow Belt coaching, Visual Performance Management, CI Maturity Assessment.
Problem Solving
- Coach project teams in applying effective problem solving (root cause analysis)
- Support team to identify problems that must be solved using right CI Methodology and Tools
Performance Management
- Set up and support the effective implementation of daily/weekly/monthly/quarterly performance management reviews at shift, department and site level including the definition and tracking of lagging and leading indicators
Continuous Improvement Maturity Assessment (CIMA)
- Continuous Improvement Maturity Assessment (CIMA):
- Support the CI Manager / Lead / Site or Business Unit to prepare the CIMA Assessment and follow up with the teams based on CIMA outcome
Process Efficiency
- Train and coach teams in applying relevant CI tools and methodologies for improving Processes and Asset Efficiencies
Work Standard
- Support process owners on development and maintenance of CI related work standards
Business Impact
- Lead or support specific business improvement projects
- Coach project teams on applying Lean and Six Sigma tools during project execution phases.
- Drive implementation progress of assigned CI projects/programs, monitoring resource plans, project team accountabilities, change requests,deadlines, milestones,change management roadmaps,communications etc. and manage periodic updates
Academic Background
- University degree
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification (planned or completed)
Professional Experience
- Overall work experience 2-4 y work experience, 1 to 2 y preferably in CI
- Proven results on leading improvement projects, training and coaching.
- Exposure to cross-functional teams and projects.
Technical Skills
Language requirements
- Good command both of oral and written English
- French is a must
