The Role:

The Residential Manager oversees Residential and Overnight staff Sunday through Thursday, ensuring high-quality programming and support for REACH students. The Residential Manager provides leadership in staff supervision, training, apartment management, and program operations, while serving as a primary point of contact for families during scheduled hours. As a Residential Manager, you will play a key role in creating a safe, supportive, and engaging environment for students and staff alike.


Essential Responsibilities:

  • Supervise Residential and Overnight staff; conduct daily debriefings.
  • Recruit, train, and coach new Life Skills Instructors (apartment procedures, assessments, Set-Works).
  • Provide performance feedback, disciplinary action, and staff evaluations.
  • Maintain staff compliance with agency training requirements.
  • Collaborate with Special Education Teachers on curriculum and student programming.
  • Participate in Focus Group meetings, ensuring structured goals, follow-up, and accountability.
  • Attend IDT meetings and provide residential updates.
  • Support student events and apartment activities.
  • Oversee apartment inventories, supplies, and cleaning schedules.
  • Establish supply purchasing schedule and designate responsible staff.
  • Manage Apartment Kitty Money, including usage procedures and record-keeping.
  • Oversee apartment turnovers and readiness for Week Visitors; maintain ownership of the Week Visitor binder.
  • Secure staffing coverage and provide direct or overnight coverage as needed.
  • Conduct overnight staff check-ins at least twice monthly.
  • Review and submit payroll bi-weekly; communicate program updates.
  • A point of contact for families during scheduled hours.
  • Maintain Medication Certification; oversee medication packing/distribution.
  • Provide transportation as needed (use of personal vehicle may be required).
  • Assist other Chapel Haven departments assigned.

 

Minimum Education Requirements:

Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Human Services or a related field, or equivalent experience.

 

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Supervisory experience required; prior work in a 24/7 residential program strongly preferred.
  • Valid Connecticut driver’s license and ability to obtain/maintain State Medication Administration certification.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, adapt to flexible scheduling, and maintain positive relationships with staff, students, and families.
