McGregor PACE (Program of All-inclusive Care for the Elderly) is a community-based service program that provides in-home healthcare services to the elderly as an alternative to nursing home placement, allowing Seniors to remain at home.
We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Van Driver to join our team at PACE. As a Van Driver, you will be responsible for providing transportation for elderly persons to and from the PACE site and other locations as required, delivering participant supplies as required.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the safety of participants from pick-up to destination
- Picks up participants from their residences, assisting them in and out of the vehicle, assisting as necessary in chairlifts and/or wheelchairs
- Records mileage/names, etc. as required
- Reports any change in participant status to the Transportation Manager, Transportation Supervisor, or medical personnel
- Responsible for ensuring vehicle cleanliness and proper operating maintenance
- Completes required daily documentation and reports, including daily transportation log, participant sign-in/out log, and processes special documentation for accidents and unusual occurrences
- Picks up meals, laundry, etc., and delivers as scheduled
- Assists personal care workers and other staff in the day health center with activities when primary driver duties are completed, and time is available
- Completes ongoing training program requirements as per agency policy for the following essential elements and driver recertification: annual wheelchair and passenger assistance, vehicle and medical emergency procedures, and safe driving techniques. Attends in-services as required; participates in regular personnel evaluations
- Validates competency in basic skills and transportation services, annually, and as otherwise required
- Follows organizational policy for call-offs, completing timesheets, and using the daily staff sign-in/out log
Minimum Qualifications:
- Valid driver's license to operate a van or bus within the state of Ohio; no more than two points permitted upon hire required.
- One year transportation experience with competence in transporting individuals with special mobility needs; a minimum of one year experience working with the frail or elderly population.
Preferred Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or CED preferred.
- Safe driving training required; knowledge of Cleveland/Cuyahoga County streets desirable.
