About The Role

We are seeking skilled data scientists to join our Data Science team at TAE Technologies. The experimental groups generate large and complex data sets, and only through advanced post-processing and modeling can these data reveal the secrets to the behavior of magnetically confined fusion plasma. By leveraging these insights, we aim to tackle the challenges of fusion energy development and deepen our understanding of plasma behavior.

About You

• Pipeline Development and Maintenance:
• Help plan, develop, deploy, and maintain the entire Data Science pipeline at TAE, from data acquisition and storage to processing, visualization, and deployment.
• Data Processing and Knowledge Distillation:
• Collaborate with scientific staff and domain experts to iterate on prototype algorithms, converting them into robust scientific data processing routines.
• Software Product Life Cycle Management:
• Be responsible for all stages of the software product life cycle, including planning, analysis, coding, debugging, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
• Experimental Operations Support:
• Serve as a vital part of daily experimental operations by real-time monitoring and processing of data, ensuring experiments proceed smoothly, producing high-quality results.
• Task Management and Collaboration:
• Effectively manage multiple tasks independently and in a collaborative environment, ensuring timely and successful completion.

Required Skills 

• PhD in physics or related field
• 3+ years developing in python
• Experience using common python data analysis and visualization packages such as NumPy, SciPy, Pandas, and Matplotlib
• Able to work in a diverse R&D environment and communicate effectively and professionally with co-workers at all levels
• Passion for data integrity as this is central to what we do as a team

Like to have:

• Ph.D. in plasma physics
• Familiarity with one or more Machine Learning libraries like Scikit-Learn, TensorFlow, and/or Keras
• Exposure to applying Bayesian statistical inference tools to experimental data
• Familiarity and comfort using the command line

Education

Ph.D. in Physics or related field

At TAE Technologies, we consider a wide range of factors when making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and job-related knowledge, training; licenses and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements depending on the position offered (non-Sr., Sr., Lead or Manager). The compensation range for these roles are $130,000 - $150,000
