KCIT is seeking an INET Network Engineer as part of its Tier 2 production support team for the services it provides. These services include Datacenter, Network Infrastructure, and Technology Platforms. The responsibilities of this position include maintaining and administering large, complex technology systems Countywide and/or large systems of comparable impact in departments or divisions. This position is responsible for one or more systems such as Cisco switches, Adva Optical devices, Physical Infrastructure Standards, Physical Access security, Systems Engineers resolve IT systems problems for internal and external customers.

Position Duties
Monitor systems, applications, and networks to ensure continuous operations of enterprise systems. Utilize tools to verify services, detect, report, escalate, and correlate events, documenting anomalies per procedures. Provide technical support and troubleshooting for IT incidents, service requests, and computer operations management. Evaluate, prioritize, correlate alerts, document, and triage IT incidents promptly to minimize end-user impact. Plan, implement, and maintain upgrades/updates/fixes for core operating systems and components following industry best practices without impacting system/network availability and reliability. Act as a liaison between vendors, technical support, and departments to resolve complex system or network issues. Troubleshoot network devices, establish connectivity, and perform installations, removals, and positioning of computer equipment and cabling in the Data Center. Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- A minimum of five years' professional experience in an IT role, maintaining enterprise network systems according to best practices.
- A minimum of three years' experience implementing enterprise networks with Cisco routers/switches and security tools.
- A minimum of one year of experience reading technical documents and using engineering/monitoring tools.
- Ability to build customer relationships, prioritize tasks, and handle multiple priorities effectively.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including technical articulation and documentation.
- Successful completion of a Criminal Justice Information System background check including fingerprinting.
- The ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. This could entail lifting switches and servers onto cabinets, racking and stacking, cabling and moving through tight spaces.
- May be responsible for the physical loading, unloading and/or sorting of equipment and boxes of varying sizes and weights by hand, including lifting, pushing, pulling, carrying, placing, as well as physical bending, twisting, kneeling, stooping, or crawling in a safe and efficient manner.
- Valid WA State driver’s license to travel to various King County worksites during business hours using a King County vehicle.
Other Qualifications
Hybrid Work Model: The KCIT Network Services Team works a hybrid model, with days in the office as well as telecommuting. The ratio of remote to onsite work will be dependent on business needs and is subject to change. The primary onsite location is the Grabar Building, 410 Occidental Ave S, Seattle, WA 98104.
Employees must reside in Washington state and within a reasonable distance to their King County worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements.
King County has a robust collection of tools and resources to support working remotely. The individual selected for this opportunity will join an innovative and progressive team that is redefining how we work as we transition to the department's hybrid environment. Employees will be provided with a County-issued laptop and must maintain a home workspace with an internet connection where they can reliably perform work and remain available and responsive during scheduled work hours.
Work Schedule: The normal work week for this position is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Alternative work schedules may be considered. This position is FLSA Exempt and is not eligible for overtime pay
