Primary Function
Under the supervision of the Operations Director, the incumbent plays a key role in the management and optimization of production operations. He or she is responsible for ensuring process performance, ensuring product quality, and maintaining a healthy, safe, and motivating work environment for the team.
Responsibilities
- Safety & Compliance: Ensure all production processes and equipment adhere to safety regulations and protocols;
- Supervise and coordinate production operations across all shifts for both production sites (40 Lesage and 333 Broadway);
- Staff Leadership: Supervise and motivate production teams, providing training, support, and clear task assignments;
- Resource Management: Allocate labor, materials, and equipment efficiently to optimize operations and control costs;
- Optimize manufacturing processes to meet quality standards and reduce operating costs;
- Collaborate closely with the sales, quality, maintenance, and engineering teams to achieve daily expectations and implement improvement opportunities;
- Continue to develop the knowledge of work teams through training and coaching to achieve A.O. Smith's performance standards;
- Performance Monitoring: Track Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) related to production, provide performance reports and drive continuous improvement projects.
Qualifications
- DEC or BAC in Industrial Engineering, Mechanics, Operations Management, or a related field.
- 3 to 5 years of experience in production management in the sheet metal manufacturing industry.
- Technical & Analytical Skills: Expertise in manufacturing processes and the ability to analyze data to identify problems and solutions.
- Leadership & Management: Ability to lead, motivate, and manage a team effectively.
- Problem-Solving: Capacity to resolve issues that disrupt production and find innovative solutions.
- Advanced skills in using digital systems (software, ERP, automation, other IT tools such as Excel).
- Bilingualism is essential, as the position requires frequent daily communication with our colleagues in Ontario, as well as with our colleagues in various departments at the head office located in the United States.
