Hours: 37 hours per week (Mon - Fri) 

Base Location: Biggleswade Adult Centre 142 London Road, Biggleswade SG18 8HA

About the role: 

Central Bedfordshire Council is currently evolving its day offer to individuals with learning disabilities. We have exciting opportunities for those who wish to be part of the team that implements this vision.

  • As a Day Care Officer, you will work closely with the people that access the service jointly in the preparation, delivery and evaluation of sessions that continue to develop each customer in a positive and meaningful way. 

  • You will be responsible for planning and delivering meaningful activities, supporting people to access and update their own support plans and other relevant documents, which can include risk assessments, manual handling plans, medication protocols. 

  • You will be working closely with other Adult Social Care colleagues and external partners, as well as communicating regularly with families and carers.  

  • During the day you will be required to support with toileting and changing, eating and drinking, exercise and medication, activity engagement, going out with people we support including those with mobility support needs.

  • We are looking for proactive people that can run with ideas, people who appreciate the little wins and glimmers of joy, people that recognise that every moment can be meaningful! 

  • The ability to adapt and be flexible to constant change and take challenges on with positivity. 

  • Experience of working with adults with learning disabilities is desirable alongside the ability to deliver a range of sessions.  

  • Ideally you will need to be IT literate, able to write reports, use your initiative and think on your feet and have a full driving licence and be willing to drive the centre minibus.

This is an important role for which you will receive our full support, including induction and ongoing training opportunities to ensure that the successful candidate feels confident and competent to work with our customers. 

 

Please note: Travel is essential for this role as you may be required to support at other support services, attend reviews and professional meetings and access training at other CBC sites. You will preferably have a full driving license with access to a vehicle.
