Verus is seeking a talented professional to lead and manage whole loan sale transactions across non-performing loans (NPL), re-performing loans (RPL), and performing whole loans. This individual will play a key role within the Capital Markets desk, overseeing transaction execution, investor engagement, due diligence, and contract finance. The ideal candidate brings strong transaction management experience in the structured finance or capital markets space, with a proven ability to project manage complex transactions and negotiate legal/contractual frameworks such as Loan Purchase Agreements (LPAs).

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Transaction Management: Lead the end-to-end execution of whole loan sales, including NPL, RPL, and performing portfolios.
  • Investor Engagement: Interface with counterparties, buyers, and internal stakeholders to coordinate transaction processes and timelines.
  • Documentation Oversight: Manage the drafting, negotiation, and finalization of Loan Purchase Agreements (LPAs) and related deal documents in coordination with legal.
  • Due Diligence: Oversee loan-level due diligence, data tapes, and vendor coordination to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Project Management: Develop and maintain transaction timelines, identify critical path issues, and ensure successful, timely closings.
  • Market Intelligence: Monitor market activity, pricing trends, and investor appetite to inform strategic decisions.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with legal, operations, accounting, and portfolio management to align transaction goals and execution.
  • Reporting: Prepare deal summaries, presentations, and reporting packages for management and investors.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Economics, Business, or related field; MBA or CFA a plus.
  • 5–10 years of experience in structured finance, capital markets, secondary marketing, or related fields.
  • Direct experience managing whole loan or structured finance transactions preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of loan purchase agreements and other structured finance documentation.
  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to manage multiple complex transactions simultaneously.
  • Advanced SQL skills for querying, cleaning, and analyzing large datasets.
  • Highly analytical with advanced Excel and financial modeling skills.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills with the ability to work across internal and external stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented, proactive, and capable of working in a fast-paced, deal-driven environment.

  • Transaction Management: Lead end-to-end execution of whole loan sales, ensuring timely and accurate closings.
  • Investor Relations: Build and manage relationships with investors and counterparties to drive successful deal execution.
  • Financial Modeling: Apply advanced Excel and analytical skills to price, evaluate, and structure whole loan transactions.
  • SQL & Data Management: Use SQL to validate and analyze large loan datasets, ensuring data integrity during due diligence.
  • Project Management: Coordinate complex, multi-stakeholder transactions with precision and accountability.
  • Communication & Negotiation: Clearly convey deal terms and effectively negotiate with internal and external partners.
  • Structured Finance Expertise: Prior experience in whole loan, secondary marketing, or structured finance environments.
  • Strategic Judgment: Anticipate risks and make data-driven decisions in a fast-paced, deal-driven setting.
