PRIMARY PURPOSE
We are seeking a detail-oriented and dedicated Quality Assurance Technician to join our team! As a Quality Assurance Technician, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that our products meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and consistency. Your expertise and meticulousness will help us maintain our reputation as a trusted producer of Jerky and snacks!
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Perform routine inspections of raw materials, production processes, and finished meat jerky products to verify compliance with established quality standards and industry regulations.
· Monitor and enforce adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and relevant food safety guidelines to guarantee the production of safe and high-quality products.
· Collect samples from various production stages and conduct thorough testing to assess overall product quality.
· Accurately record all quality-related data, inspection results, and test outcomes in compliance with company procedures and regulatory requirements.
· Identify and document any non-conforming products or processes, investigate root causes, and assist in implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
· Notify appropriate management when there is products that do not meet company quality and food safety standards.
· Assist in the disposal of non-conforming products.
Comply with Food Safety Plan (HACCP), Food Quality Plan (FQP) standards.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Qualified candidates will generally have the following education, knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- For business and safety reasons, must be able to communicate effectively verbally and in written English; bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
- Highschool diploma or equivalent is required; a degree or certification in food science, biology, or related field is advantageous.
- Solid understanding of GMPs, food safety standards, and quality control procedures.
- Familiarity with laboratory equipment and testing methodologies for food production is encouraged.
- Ability to interpret and apply technical documents, such as SOPs, product specifications, and regulatory guidelines.
- Strong attention to detail, analytical skills, and problem-solving abilities.
- Self-started and must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with various teams and communicate quality related issues.
- Flexibility to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
- Ability to learn operation techniques for various laboratory equipment and troubleshoot when needed.
- Knowledge of HACCP principles and experience in HACCP implementation is a plus.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position requires a range of physical activities, including lifting, carrying, pulling, pushing, reaching, manipulating, and keying or typing. Employees in this role may occasionally lift and carry weights up to 60 pounds, with most tasks involving lighter weights between 1 and 25 pounds. Lifting or carrying items over 60 pounds occurs infrequently.
Physical effort is applied throughout the workday and may vary depending on the task being performed. The work involves periods of sitting, standing, and walking, as well as occasional stooping and bending. The position does not typically require working in confined spaces.
MENTAL REQUIREMENTS
Concentrated mental and/or visual attention; the work involves performing complex tasks to very
close accuracy and quality specifications; or a high degree of hand and eye coordination for sustained periods.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is generally performed under good conditions; however, employees in this position may be exposed to dust, dirt, heat, cold, fumes, noise, vibration, and water. While these elements can occur in the work environment, exposure is typically limited and not considered disagreeable or excessive.
ATTENDANCE
Compliance with the general company attendance standards is acceptable.
SAFETY
Compliance with the general company safety standards is required. In addition, this position requires safe operation of heavy machinery.
FLSA STATUS
This position is nonexempt and is eligible for overtime pay.
