Manager - Clinical Services (Infection Control and Employee Health & Safety)

This position is responsible for assisting in the leadership and direction in both the Human Resources and Nursing Department in keeping with the facility’s mission and values. The Infection Preventionist and Employee Health Manager assists in carrying out infection control and employee health policies and procedures as well as ensuring all state and federal regulations are met.
Job Duties:
- Collaborates with team and individuals to create infection prevention strategies, provide feedback, and sustain infection prevention, including annual review and update of policies
- Ensures proper documentation of antibiotics
- Administers, track and report on TB tests, influenza vaccine, pneumovacs, and other new vaccines
- Monitor, document and follow-up on outbreaks, including update to health department and medical director
- Update IC and TB risk assessment
- Monitor isolation initiation and initiates discontinuation of isolation. Review new admits prn for isolation needs
- Conduct daily infection control rounds – review isolation, antibiotic logs, linen, etc
- Collaborates with DON and ADON to provide education on healthcare associated infections as needed
- Provides on-going surveillance of resident health outbreaks and reports findings as defined by State of WI statute to the Wauwatosa Public Health Dept. Collaborates with employee health nurse on implementation of infection control policies and procedures
- Coordinates annual flu shot vaccines, Hepatitis B vaccines, COVID-19 and any other vaccines for employees and residents.
- Under the direction of the medical director, ensures compliance with the pre-employment screening for clinically apparent communicable diseases.
- Manages and investigates workplace injuries and collaborates with workers compensation provider and human resources to ensure healing and successful return to work.
- Coordinates new hire and annual fit testing for employees and maintains records.
- Member of quality council, management council, and member of QAPI committee
- Ensures the appropriate audits are in place to track outcomes and quality metrics
Qualifications:
- A current license to practice nursing is required.
- A Registered Nursing license is preferred but not required.
- Completion of a technical or vocational Practical Nursing Program or an Associate’s Degree program in nursing is required.
- Current CPR certification or must obtain within six months of hire
- At least three years experience in acute or long term care nursing preferred
- One or more years leadership experience preferred
