The City of Greensboro is seeking a skilled and motivated Lead Maintenance Technician – Electrical to join our Building Maintenance Division within Engineering and Inspections. This internal-only opportunity is ideal for someone ready to take on greater responsibility, demonstrate leadership, and apply advanced electrical expertise in maintaining and improving our City facilities.

About the Role

The Lead Maintenance Tech (Electrical) is a skilled position requiring higher-level technical knowledge and leadership than an entry-level role. Reporting to the Electrician, maintenance mechanics, and/or supervisor, this role will:

  • Coordinate and perform electrical work for installation, construction, troubleshooting, repairs, renovations, and maintenance of facilities.
  • Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems, Card Access systems, and Closed Circuit TV (CCTV) systems, including software and networking components.
  • Ensure compliance with local, State, and National electrical codes as well as OSHA policies and procedures.
  • Utilize electrical hand/power tools, network interface equipment, and computers to complete tasks and manage work orders.
  • Perform physically demanding duties such as bending, stooping, kneeling, climbing ladders, lifting up to 50 lbs., and working in varied conditions.
  • Maintain reliable contact (home or cellular phone) for communication.

Minimum Qualifications

What You Bring

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED with 4-6 years of electrical experience (MUST indicate electrical, Card Access & Closed Circuit TV experience on application)
    • OR No High School Diploma/GED with 8-10 years of electrical experience (MUST indicate electrical, Card Access & Closed Circuit TV experience on application)
    • OR Associate's Degree with 1-4  years of electrical experience (MUST indicate electrical, Card Access & Closed Circuit TV experience on application)
  • Valid Driver's License

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of other work disciplines; Plumbing, Carpentry, or HVAC 
  • Previous work experience in a large commercial organization/building environment 
  • Knowledge of computer software, iPads, and/or general office equipment
