Position Summary
The Hydraulic Cylinder and Hose Repair Shop Technician is responsible for providing high-quality repair and maintenance services for hydraulic cylinders, hoses, and related components at Hoosier Hydraulics’ over-the-counter repair shop. This role involves diagnosing issues, performing repairs, assembling hydraulic systems, and delivering excellent customer service to ensure client satisfaction. The technician will work collaboratively with team members in a fast-paced environment, adhering to safety standards and company policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnosis and Repair:
- Inspect and diagnose hydraulic cylinders, hoses, fittings, and components to identify issues and determine repair needs.
- Perform repairs, including disassembling, cleaning, replacing parts, reassembling, and testing hydraulic systems for functionality and leaks.
- Fabricate and assemble custom hydraulic hoses to meet customer specifications.
- Customer Service:
- Interact with customers at the counter to understand their repair needs, provide estimates, and explain technical details in a clear, professional manner.
- Maintain accurate records of customer orders, repairs, and transactions.
- Inventory and Equipment Management:
- Maintain and organize shop tools, equipment, and inventory of hydraulic components, ensuring availability of necessary parts.
- Report low inventory levels to the General Manager and assist with ordering supplies as needed.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Adhere to all safety protocols, including proper handling of hydraulic fluids, tools, and equipment, to ensure a safe work environment.
- Follow industry standards and company policies for hydraulic system repairs and maintenance.
- Team Collaboration:
- Work cooperatively with other technicians and staff to complete repairs efficiently and support shop operations.
- Communicate effectively with the General Manager to report progress, challenges, or customer concerns.
Work Environment
- The role is based in an over-the-counter repair shop at Hoosier Hydraulics, involving both hands-on repair work and customer interactions.
- Standard hours are Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM, with occasional overtime.
- The work environment includes exposure to noise, hydraulic fluids, and heavy equipment, requiring adherence to safety protocols.

- Complete repairs accurately and efficiently, meeting or exceeding industry standards for quality.
- Maintain a professional and respectful demeanor with customers and coworkers, contributing to a positive work environment.
- Achieve zero safety violations and ensure all repairs pass quality checks.
- Meet customer satisfaction goals, as measured by feedback or surveys (target: 90% positive feedback).

Requirements
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or certification in hydraulic systems, mechanics, or a related field preferred but not required.
- Experience: Experience in hydraulic cylinder and hose repair or a related mechanical field is a plus; experience in a customer-f acing role is a plus.
- Skills:
- Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing hydraulic cylinders, hoses, and fittings.
- Knowledge of hydraulic systems, components, and tools (e.g., crimpers, pressure testers).
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to read technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints.
- Basic computer skills for record-keeping and inventory management.
- Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stand for extended periods, and work in a shop environment with exposure to hydraulic fluids and machinery.
- Manual dexterity for handling tools and small components.
