The Acute Care Financial Analyst is responsible for overseeing the billing and financial analysis of acute care services to ensure accurate and timely reimbursement. This role provides critical financial oversight, works closely with clinical and administrative departments, and ensures compliance with all applicable billing regulations and organizational policies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and oversee the billing process for acute care services, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with payer requirements.
  • Analyze revenue cycle data, identify trends or discrepancies, and provide recommendations to improve financial performance.
  • Collaborate with coding, billing, and clinical departments to resolve billing issues and optimize reimbursement.
  • Review and reconcile charges, payments, and adjustments related to acute care services.
  • Prepare regular financial reports, dashboards, and variance analyses for leadership.
  • Assist with audits, ensuring proper documentation and compliance with state, federal, and payer regulations.
  • Support budgeting and forecasting activities related to acute care revenue streams.
  • Develop and maintain policies and procedures to strengthen internal controls and revenue integrity.
  • Stay current with changes in reimbursement regulations, billing guidelines, and healthcare financial best practices.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting required.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 2–3 years of experience in healthcare finance, billing, or accounting (acute care experience preferred).
    • Knowledge of hospital billing systems, revenue cycle processes, and payer requirements.
  • Skills:
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting software.
    • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
    • Ability to communicate effectively with clinical and administrative staff.
    • Working knowledge of federal and state reimbursement regulations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Electronic Health Records (EHR) and hospital billing systems.
  • Certified Healthcare Financial Professional (CHFP) or similar certification.
