About the Opportunity
As our Lead Engineer, you’ll be leading one of our product engineering squads composed of backend, frontend, and QA engineers. In this role, you will play a critical part in building and enhancing core products & services within our platform, while maintaining strong alignment with technical strategy and operational priorities of the organization.
You'll split your time between hands-on activities such as coding, code reviewing, designing solutions and technical leadership responsibilities, including project delivery, team mentorship and maintaining collaborative environments:
- Squad leadership: lead a cross-functional engineering squad and follow through on a daily basis to drive project execution, from planning to production release.
- Technical execution: as an individual contributor, participate in product building by contributing directly to the codebases; as a tech lead, set a high bar for engineering excellence by promoting and applying best practices, from code reviewing to architecture decisions.
- Team leadership: coach and develop team members, find some common grounds between their desired career goals with the company's ladder to define an appropriate development plan and provide support to help them grow along their career paths.
- Cross-functional collaboration: partner and establish working relationships with product managers, marketers, customer support and other stakeholders to align on delivery goals and effective communication channels. Communicate technical decisions & trade-offs clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders by using appropriate languages for different audiences.
- Technical strategy: work closely with CTO, Engineering Manager and other leaders to shape and execute technical strategies, making sure team directions are heading the right path.
What you need to be successful
- 5+ years working as a software engineer, with at least 3 years in a lead role
- Expertise in at least one major tech stack and willing to make the switch to Go and Javascript
- Experience in building and maintaining high-traffic backend services, preferably running on AWS
- Experience in building SaaS webapps, preferably using React or similar frameworks
- Experience working with MongoDB and PostgreSQL or similar databases
- Proven experience leading engineering teams using approaches that encourage innovation and grow mindset
- Excellent English communication and interpersonal skills
- Passion for mentoring and growing engineering talents
- Experience in async communication with product, marketing, and operations teams in different timezones
- Comfortable working in fast-paced, agile environments where things are changing & moving moderately fast
Nice to haves:
- Experience in a SaaS/ Product development or email marketing industry
- Experience with API & automation testing
- Experience with SaaS problems like fair usage, noisy neighbor
- Experience working with large databases like sharding, partitioning, no downtime migration
- Experience working with Martech (email deliverability, tracking, embed analytics)
- Experience working with Fintech (handling transactions, money flow, fraud prevention)
