Position Overview:
The Staff Accountant plays a vital role in upholding the financial integrity and regulatory compliance of our construction company. Working closely with the CFO, this position is responsible for managing a broad range of accounting functions, including maintaining accurate financial records, overseeing multi-state payroll operations, and ensuring timely tax filings in alignment with applicable regulations.
This role involves close collaboration with both the CFO and department managers to support day-to-day accounting needs and deliver clear, actionable financial insights. The Staff Accountant’s contributions are essential to sustaining the company’s financial health through precise, organized, and efficient accounting practices tailored to the unique demands of the construction industry.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience, preferably within the construction industry.
- Proficiency with accounting software and payroll systems, specifically ADP Workforce and QuickBooks.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, tax compliance, and multi-state payroll regulations.
- Demonstrated experience with accounts payable/receivable, bank reconciliations, and general ledger management.
Preferred Qualifications:
- CPA or CPA-eligible status preferred.
- Familiarity with benefits administration and employee compensation programs.
- Advanced skills in Excel and financial reporting tools.
- Experience working in a fast-paced construction environment with multiple projects.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with and process multi-state payroll using ADP Workforce, ensuring accuracy and compliance with all applicable laws and regulations..
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, including bank reconciliations and accruals, to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, ensuring timely payments and collections.
- Support construction accounting activities such as job costing, tracking project expenses, and coordinating with project managers to align financial data with project progress.
- Utilize accounting software to record, track, and report financial transactions efficiently and accurately.
- Assist with benefits administration and related payroll deductions to support employee compensation programs.
- Generate financial reports and assist in month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Ensure all accounting activities comply with established accounting principles and company policies.
