About the Department
This position coordinates the overall Racquet Sports operations for the City of Florence, Park & Recreation Department. Job duties include: coordinating all racquet sports operations, promoting racquet sports activities (events, programs, clinics, tournaments, etc.), planning/coordinating activities, monitoring inventory, and making recommendations for the purchase of equipment/supplies for racquet sports. Other duties include serving as liaison to community racquet sports groups, schools, and organizations. May be required to work some nights, weekends, and holidays. Must be committed to providing quality racquet sports activities for Florence residents. Performs other related job duties as required. Supervised by the Golf & Racquet Sports Manager, and/or Athletic Director.
Position Duties
- Coordinates/plans activities and events for racquet sports for the department, tracks activity metrics, and prepares reports.
- Implements affordable programs/clinics for youth, adults, seniors, and adaptive sports participants.
- Assists with seasonal scheduling for public lessons, clinics, and tournaments.
- Coordinate summer youth racquet activities and camps.
- Assists with scheduling activities for racquet sports (tournaments, events, lessons, clinics, etc.).
- Creates a welcoming environment for all community members, sports organizations/groups, and schools, and promotes a partnership for activities, events, tournaments, and outreach programs throughout the community.
- Assists with the reservation system for activities, maintains a complete record of activities, participation results, and records.
- Assist with marketing and promotional activities throughout the community.
- Assists with facility rentals and online permits for events.
- Assists with the park maintenance division on facility upkeep, maintenance of public tennis/pickleball courts, and makes recommendations.
- Ensures compliance with City employment policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Represents the department at community activities/meetings, responds to public inquiries.
- Maintains an inventory of supplies/equipment and a schedule for replacement or repair.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED required. Bachelor’s degree in Parks/Recreation Management, Sports Management, Recreation Management, or related field preferred.
- Minimum 2 years of practical experience in public recreation, and experience in public facilities, municipal government experience preferred.
- Computer proficiency in word processing and spreadsheet software.
- Valid Driver's License.
Other Qualifications
- Must have thorough knowledge of racquet sports activities, rules, and regulations.
- Must be able to assist with providing/conducting staff training for tournaments, clinics, lessons, etc.
- Must be knowledgeable of the City’s policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Must be proficient in computers and knowledgeable in word processing and spreadsheet software.
- Must have excellent communication skills, customer service skills, and the ability to handle the public with tact and diplomacy.
- Must have good organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to write reports and maintain records of racquet sports activities
- Good moral character with no conviction of a high misdemeanor or crime involving turpitude.
Supervised by the Golf & Racquet Sports Manager, and/or Athletic Director
Physical Demands (with or without accommodations):
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and sit for prolonged periods of time.
- Ability to lift and move a variety of equipment/supplies, up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to demonstrate basic tennis and pickleball techniques.
- Ability to work in adverse weather conditions.
