The Role

As an AspenTech Principal Consultant Engineer you will provide consulting to clients implementing our software with a specific focus on the production accounting products: AspenTech Unified Reconciliation & Accounting and related families. The successful individual will be responsible for undertaking consulting services for AspenTech clients in the oil & gas and chemical industries, with opportunities to engage in projects around the world.

You will also be a key driving force in delivering Industrial Data Management and MES technology to new and existing customers. You will become an expert in the configuration and use of our platform, onboarding new customers and ensuring that all their requirements are met. As well as working with internal product management, marketing, and sales teams, you will also regularly communicate with customers via email, web calls, and face-to-face meetings.

  • Serve as subject matter expert in leading and implementing AspenTech MES projects. This includes but not limited to:
  • Gathering customer requirements and translating those into high-level solution designs for aspenONE MES products. (Aspen Unified Reconciliation and Accounting, Aspen Unified Movements, AspenTech Workflow, in addition to sister applications such as Aspen Infoplus.21, AspenTech Inmation, Aspen Production Record Manager, aspenONE Process Explorer, etc.)
  • Defining and implementing data integration with external systems and aspenONE products such as Petro Supply Chain (PSC), including learning the latest Aspen Unified solutions at the level needed for data integration.
  • Deliver technical documents such as Functional Specifications, Detailed Design Documents, as well as Site Acceptance Test Documents.
  • Be confident, capable, and have solid ability to play a leading role on projects.
  • Demonstrate collaboration with the AspenTech Project Management team, Sales Team, involving technical to non-technical aspects of the project.
  • Formulating business processes to support the systems.
  • Working with clients to implement the systems and delivery of systems.
  • Commissioning the completed systems which may require on site monitoring and analysis.
  • Working closely with Project Managers to manage project budgets/schedules.
  • Participation in commercial proposal development and testing of software new releases.
  • Designing and implementing enterprise-wide visualization and collaboration solutions using AspenTech products, or 3rd party (e.g. PowerBI). This also includes integration work with Aspen Supply Chain solutions to support these projects.
  • Conducting demonstrations, training, requirements analysis and system design workshops.
  • Prepare and adjust training material for MES products and related integration.

What You'll Need

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering. MS or PhD will be preferred. Equivalent work experience will be considered.
  • 7+ years’ experience in the field of petroleum supply chain management and/or production accounting.
  • Multi-project experience serving as a technical lead in systems implementations.
  • Demonstrable communication and coaching skills.
  • Understand concepts of data collection and be able to manipulate data files and collection lists accurately.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities.
  • Being a team player, with good communication skills and capable of clearly articulating technical and functional concepts to customers and to colleagues – cooperation with Project Managers and customers will be a key part of the role.
  • Able and willing to travel at least 20% of time since the job includes testing and commissioning activities at client sites. No Visa limitation for travelling around most Countries.
  • Fluency in English is required.
  • Fluency in any other language will be a plus.
