Responsible for ink mixing, color matching prior to the ink being used on machines, and maintaining color standards.
Primary Duties
  • Under general supervision, provide color matching, formulating, and small batch blending support on-site at the given customer location
  • Maintain detailed production and quality control records
  • Support customer's schedule through production coordination
  • Provide strong press side technical service, troubleshoot problems and provide detailed and consistent technical reporting
  • Produce and quality control inks to ensure inks meet or exceed the customer's specifications. Maintain detailed production and QC records
  • Perform color matching and formulation
  • Identifies rework opportunities based on review of batch tickets
  • Maintain monthly and weekly reporting to the CTS and Sales Organization
  • Work closely with customer and CTS Rep. on development projects and process improvement projects
  • Assists other departments and/or areas as requested by management or supervisor
  • Participates in any extra curriculum (training & development) activity deemed necessary by management
  • Matches colors and formulates ink to customer specification with economical use of color base combinations
  • Selects bases and vehicles so that inks formulated meet or exceed customer needs, regarding such qualities as color, fade resistance, odor, rub resistance, coating compatibility, printing methods, viscosity, tack, grind, etc.
  • Prepares formula, supervises and participates in weighing out necessary ingredients, mixing and milling all inks to be produced at in plant operation
  • Performs standard quality control tests to insure inks meet or exceed customer specifications
  • Prepares draw-downs and displays for color comparisons
  • Furnishes press side technical service as required to adjust problems, such as shade, color, body, stripping, bleeding, skinning, and assisting with press related problems. Performs troubleshooting
  • Orders inks, coatings, and raw materials. Maintain inventory levels. Learns computer skills
  • Identifies press returns and learns work-off of materials to insure low dormancy levels
  • Maintains production and quality control records of all products produced and advises branch as to amount of ink to be billed to in plant operation
  • Maintains in-plant in a state of good housekeeping and safe operation
  • Provides monthly activity report to manager on all monthly in plant activities including total number of batches, color matches, and trials
  • Learn relevant local and company requirements, rules and procedures. Strictly follows rules and guidelines and always uses the right procedure for the job. Promptly reports incidents, near-misses, and unsafe conditions or processes. SKNA employees regardless of level, position or tenure are responsible for upholding the safety standards regulations and policies.
