Reporting to this Manufacturing Manager the production supervisor is responsible for the efficient and cost effective management of the production line to ensure high quality finished products while maintaining safety and quality standards. (Relocation assistance available to those who are eligible)

Responsibilities

  • Minimizing production costs by utilizing employees, materials and equipment in the safest most effective and efficient manner
  • Responsible for developing direct reports through coaching, effective communication and performance management
  • Ownership and implementation of continuous improvement initiatives
  • Minimize accidents through organized safety program consisting of safety inspection/follow up, crew briefings, training. Review accidents and ensure corrective actions are put in place
  • Operated with the quality management program QMP and HACCP as well as good manufacturing practices GMP
  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment in a unionized facility
  • Responsible for training new and existing employees in changing work environment
  • Ensure accuracy and timely reporting of hourly payroll for employees and work order process and JDE system

Job specifications

  • Post secondary education in a related field would be considered an asset
  • Two to four years of experience in a supervisory role in a unionized environment
  • Effective communication skills
  • Effective coaching skills (leadership, communication, coordination, support)
  • Very good understanding of processing equipment
  • Good computer skills
  • Team leader and trainer
  • Ability to work cross functionally with others to solve problems in a team environment
  • Promote and show commitments to High liner and its visions value in guiding principles

Working conditions Plant Environment: The plant work environment will expose the employee to loud noise, food grade dust & odors, moving & vibrating machinery, heavy equipment, powered industrial trucks, heights, traffic, anhydrous ammonia, oil and electricity. The employee may be exposed to adverse weather conditions including extreme cold, heat, rain, snow, dust, smoke and odors. Flexibility of work hours. Ability to work on feet for extended periods of time if needed.

Physical Requirements/Allergens: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, sit, talk, listen, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is required to use hands to handle, operate, and feel objects, tools or controls. The employee is occasionally required to operate a motor vehicle to travel to off-site meetings. The employee must have visual acuity sufficient to operate a motor vehicle and digital camera, as well as other office and position equipment. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. Employee must be able to hear and speak clearly in order to communicate with clients, coworkers, employees and vendors.
