POSITION SUMMARY:
Under limited supervision, provides support to security operations in the physical protection of JEA’s critical infrastructure, personnel, facilities, and other assets. Job requires in-depth knowledge of security dispatch and business system analysis tools, processes, methodologies, and standards for business requirements information gathering, analysis, and documentation. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, conducting incident investigations by gathering, organizing, documenting, and analyzing existing security event information to complete accurate security reports and required internal and external notifications. Guidelines are available but are not completely applicable to the work or have gaps in specificity requiring judgment in interpreting, analyzing, and adapting methods, techniques and procedures to specific cases or problems. Solves problems within established parameters and identifies and recommends responses to new and unusual circumstances. Completed work is evaluated for technical soundness, appropriateness and conformity with policies and requirements. Regular contact with people in other work groups, security force contractors, and individuals in internal leadership roles is required to plan and coordinate security event response efforts to resolve security events, advise on work efforts, and communicate information. May be required to work any shift schedule to maintain 24-hour, 7 day per week operations.
EXAMPLES OF WORK:
· Receive and process emergency and non-emergency calls; monitor phone and radio traffic to ensure procedural compliance.
· Coordinate and direct activities of security contractors.
· Complete accurate security reports from all available sources and review security force report information entered in the computer system for accuracy and complete any required follow-up actions.
· Assess employees' compliance with procedures; assist in the development of employee skills and abilities by providing corrective action when necessary. Initiates commendations where appropriate.
· Identify, analyze, troubleshoot, and submit tickets to report security and non-security system problems.
· Fulfill access control and CCTV video requests by JEA Management as requested or for investigative purposes.
· Participate in periodic meetings with the Security management team.
· Complete accurate, timely, and comprehensive reports relative to security operations investigations.
· Ensure the proper various reports and investigations are completed by security force contractors from emergency and non-emergency events.
· Complete notifications to appropriate internal and external agencies, command staff, etc.
· Serve as the initial dispatch incident commander directing security force contractors to take appropriate measures to neutralize a threat for security events until relieved by higher authority.
· Monitor and analyze reports to ensure security force contractors complete a proper investigation of the security event to determine root causes.
· Identify security dispatch program weaknesses recommending corrective action and mitigations as appropriate.
· Identify and communicate verbally or in writing any dispatch operational and procedural questions or concerns to the immediate supervisor.
· Ensure the proper various reports and investigations are completed by security force contractors from emergency and non-emergency events.
· Complete notifications to appropriate internal and external agencies, command staff, etc.
· Help drive security concepts and methodologies across the security dispatch team, contracted security force, and other employees.
· Perform other job-related work as assigned.
OPEN REQUIREMENTS:
A high school diploma or the equivalent is required; a bachelor’s degree in Technical, Criminal Justice, Criminology or related field is preferred
AND
Two (2) years of related experience in security dispatch
SALARY: $25.96/hr.
