Duties and Responsibilities
*Assists with installing, configuring, testing, maintaining and optimizing server operating systems, and software products.
*Assists with designing, developing, testing, and documenting scripts that automate routine tasks for server operating systems.
*Assists with installing, testing, and documenting security patches and/or vulnerability mitigations for server operating systems and applications.
*Assists with identifying, analyzing, and troubleshooting server and application problems. Escalate as necessary to ensure resolution.
*Responds to firewall rule change requests by thoroughly reviewing, testing and implementing with guidance from ITS security staff as necessary.
*Assists with responding to alerts generated by endpoint detection and response (EDR)agents.
*Assists ITS Security staff with security incident responses, investigations, and remediation support.
*Keep abreast of relevant industry trends by perusing technical blogs, reading journals, and viewing online webinars.
Continually hardens the ITS-managed environments and security infrastructure to defend against security threats and to strengthen the security posture with guidance from ITS Security staff as needed.
Continually monitors and proactively identifies security risks, exposures, and incidents within the ITS-managed infrastructure.
Recommends and participates in the evaluation of security tools, practices, and infrastructure to protect ITS-managed infrastructure.

Minimum Qualifications
- Possession of a baccalaureate educational degree in Information Technology and 0 years of progressively responsible professional information technology experience with responsibilities for multi-use system administration; or any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education, knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated.
- Functional knowledge of server operating systems and applications, demonstrated by knowledge, understanding and ability to apply principles, concepts, methodology and terminology.
- Functional knowledge and understanding of technology, systems, hardware and software associated with server operating systems and applications.
- Demonstrated ability to recognize problems, identify possible causes and resolve routine problems in the area of server operating systems and applications.
- Demonstrated ability to understand oral and written documentation, write reports and procedures, and communicate effectively in a variety of situations.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations, groups, team members and individuals.
- Functional knowledge of Linux or Unix demonstrated by knowledge, understanding and ability to apply principles, concepts, methodology and terminology.
- Experience with supporting open source and proprietary mission-critical enterprise applications.
- Experience with developing and executing Linux shell scripts to automate tasks.
- Experience with upgrading software on firewalls in a production enterprise environment.
- Experience with troubleshooting endpoint detection & response(EDR)agents on Windows and MacOS operating systems.
- Functional knowledge of business-critical network protocols and applications, including their commonly used TCP and UDP ports.
- Functional knowledge of common network troubleshooting tools like ping, traceroute, nslookup, NMAP, etc.
- Ability to speak, read, comprehend, interpret and write fluently in English.
- Ability to learn and apply new technologies independently and in a timely manner using books, manuals, online research, and other resources.
- Ability to work a variable work schedule; and work outside normally scheduled work hours including day, night, weekend and/or holiday hours, as directed.
Desirable Qualifications
1.Ability to understand, create and update enterprise network diagrams.
2.Experience in establishing and troubleshooting IPSec tunnels.
3.Experience configuring and troubleshooting Panorama-managed firewalls in an active/passive deployment.
4.Considerable knowledge of at least one of the following programming/scripting languages: Bash, Ansible, Powershell, Python, Golang.
5.Possess certifications related to information security such as A+, Network+, Security+, etc.
