Assistant Chief Engineer bei The Little America Hotel

The Assistant Chief Engineer supports the daily operations of the Engineering Department (Hotel Maintenance), ensuring that all property systems, equipment, and life safety systems are maintained to brand standards and regulatory codes. This role supervises the engineering team, oversees preventive maintenance and repairs, and partners with other departments to protect assets and deliver a safe, seamless, and high-quality guest experience.

Responsibilities:

• Supervise, train, and develop engineering staff; manage scheduling and performance (four – ten employees).
• Oversee preventive maintenance programs and ensure timely completion of work orders.
• Inspect, test, and maintain life safety systems to ensure full operational readiness.
• Monitor compliance with brand standards, OSHA, ADA, and local/state regulations.
• Manage inventory, records, and departmental administration.
• Respond quickly to guest-impacting maintenance needs.
• Act as Chief Engineer in their absence and support special projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required; technical/vocational training preferred.
• 3–5 years of hotel or hospitality engineering/maintenance experience.
• Previous supervisory experience required.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.
• Effective leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Familiarity with maintenance management systems (MMS/CMMS) a plus.

Physical and Safety Requirements:

• Frequent lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying of items 25 lbs. or more.
• Regular bending, kneeling, and physical activity for repairs and maintenance.
• Mobility throughout the hotel, including all floors, varying heights, and distances.
• Use of ladders and lifts as required.
• Continuous standing for extended periods.
• Occasional stair and ladder climbing (up to 210 steps or 20 feet).
• Limited local driving for supplies or equipment (within ~20 miles).
