Program Description:The National Weather Service (NWS) Next Generation Radar (NEXRAD) Radar Operations Center (ROC) in Norman, Oklahoma, is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and modernization of the NEXRAD radar network (WSR-88D system), which is essential for the U.S.'s weather monitoring and forecasting. The ROC provides 24/7 technical support, oversees upgrades, and collaborates with research institutions and government agencies to enhance radar technology. It also manages the dissemination of critical radar data used for weather forecasting and severe weather alerts, ensuring the continued accuracy and reliability of this vital national infrastructure.A core function within the ROC is Configuration Management (CM). The Configuration Management Team (CMT) performs identification, control, and status accounting of the hardware and software components of the WSR-88D system. The CMT also develops and implements WSR-88D Configuration Management (CM) policy and procedures, administers the hardware and software baseline data bases, supports the activities of the Configuration Control Board (CCB), administers proposed hardware and software changes, and provides reports concerning the status of proposed changes. Furthermore, the CMT administers the Technical Library, develops and implements programs for engineering drawing support, provides engineering research services, and produces and deploys software and adaptation data.Centuria is seeking an experienced Data Configuration Management Specialist to support the National Weather Service (NWS), Next Generation Radar (NEXRAD) Radar Operations Center (ROC) and its Configuration Management Team (CMT).In this role, you will be responsible for establishing and maintaining baselines, implementing change control processes, conducting configuration audits, and ensuring accurate status accounting and reviews. You should have a working knowledge of Product Life Cycle Management tools like Oracle Agile or similar and Requirements Management Tools such as DOORS. Experience with hardware configuration management, including bill of materials creation and control, as well as the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, is highly desirable. Familiarity with generating and/or assisting in the development of CM plans, processes, and procedures is also important. Knowledge of industry best practices, Military standards, and CMMI related to data/configuration management is desired. Specialized expertise in radar systems and equipment is highly valued.Job Responsibilities:Establish and maintain baselines for hardware and software configurations.Implement change control processes, including the evaluation and processing of Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs) and participation in change control boards.Conduct configuration audits to ensure compliance with established baselines and standards.Maintain accurate status accounting and conduct reviews such as Preliminary Design Reviews (PDR), Critical Design Reviews (CDR), System Requirements Reviews (SRR), and Test Readiness Reviews (TRR).Utilize Product Life Cycle Management tools, such as Oracle Agile, to manage configuration items and track changes.Work with Requirements Management Tools like IBM DOORS to ensure traceability between requirements and configuration items.Create, control, and revise the bill of materials structure for hardware configurations.Read and interpret engineering drawings to understand configuration requirements.Generate and/or assist in the development of Configuration Management plans, processes, and procedures.Stay up-to-date with industry best practices, Military standards, and CMMI related to data/configuration management.Job Requirements: Two years of experience in data or hardware and/or software configuration management.Working knowledge of establishing and maintaining baselines, change control processes (ECPs, change boards), configuration audits, status accounting, and reviews (PDR, CDR, SRR, TRR).Familiarity with Product Life Cycle Management tools such as Oracle Agile and Requirements Management Tools like IBM DOORS.Experience in hardware configuration management, including bill of materials creation, control, and revision.Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings to understand configuration requirements.Proficiency in generating and/or assisting in the development of Configuration Management plans, processes, and procedures.Knowledge of industry best practices, Military standards, and CMMI related to data/configuration management.Experience with computer-aided design software like AutoCAD or SolidWorks is a plus.Specialized knowledge of radar systems and equipment is a plus.
