Deloitte Tax LLP seeks a Tax Senior in San Francisco, California.
Work You’ll Do
Provide day-to-day client service relationships and serve as the gateway to a variety of specialized tax services that can help improve compliance with taxing entities while maintaining each client’s overall tax risk profile. Work closely with clients and other members of the team to understand each organization’s global goals and strategies and how industry and economic trends affect the business. Assist clients to balance compliance details and long-term tax strategies as well as understand national, state and local, and international tax structures and align tax functions with business objectives. Provide compliance and consulting services to partnership clients. Identify complex tax issues and provide tax analysis for a variety of entities and their affiliates. Prepare and review complex partnership allocations, including waterfall calculations, incentive/performance allocations and 743(b) adjustments. Participate in complex tax research projects for clients in diverse industries, and researching and analyzing a wide range of tax issues related to business transactions and the tax implications of financing techniques for a variety of entities and their affiliates. Undertake tax compliance assignments for current and former executives of client organizations. Assume tax-planning responsibilities for federal clients. Mentor and coach junior team members and escalate issues when necessary.
Requirements
Bachelor's (or higher) degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or related field (willing to accept foreign education equivalent) plus eighteen months of experience as a Tax Senior or related occupation gaining experience providing tax planning services or preparing client work papers and tax returns.
Experience must include one year of:
- preparing and reviewing federal and state income tax returns for investment and operating partnerships and venture capital partnerships;
- preparing K-1 footnotes to disclose additional information on foreign reporting and special treatment of items reported, and preparing federal and multi-state Schedule K-1s and related disclosures, including Forms 1065, 926, and 8865;
- performing foreign filing analysis for Forms 8621, 5471, 5472, and 8865 on issues including controlled foreign corporation, passive foreign investment company, and qualified electing fund;
- preparing and analyzing work papers and forms related to U.S. source income for partnerships, including Forms 8804, 1042, and 1042-S;
- performing analysis for partnership allocations in accordance with Subchapter K Partnership Taxation, tracking tax basis and capital accounts, and calculating and reporting tax withholding on payments to foreign persons;
- utilizing tax software, including GoSystems, to prepare federal, state, local, and international income tax returns, and calculate estimated tax and process filings;
- reviewing Limited Partnership Agreements (LPAs), amendments, purchase agreements, and transfer agreements from clients to ensure tax compliance;
- analyzing U.S. GAAP based financial statements from clients to be used for tax purposes and preparing taxable income calculations and assisting clients with drafting responses to notices from state tax authorities;
- applying business process methodology techniques, including Waterfall methodologies, to develop specific customized technical solutions; and
- mentoring and coaching junior team members.

Annual Salary: $81,620.00 - $151,580.00.
