Job Purpose or Objective(s):  As the Phlebotomist, you will collect and process patient specimens for lab testing. You will report to the Supervisor.

PG05 - Start Rate: $17.55/hourly | Schedule: Monday through Friday 8am to 4:30pm | 

Weekly Earned Wage Access is an Option for this Position | 

Primary Tasks:

  1. Perform venipuncture or capillary puncture on patients of all ages. 
  2. Follow sterile procedure appropriate technique and approved collection equipment to obtain required specimens for testing.
  3. Obtain positive identification by name and date of birth from each patient, or from hospital armband or from nursing staff.
  4. Label specimens correctly and delivers to proper testing area.
  5. Answer telephone and uses phone system appropriately.
  6. Process specimens requiring preparation for referral to reference labs.
  7. Maintain lab files in orderly and proper condition.
  8. Maintain strict confidentiality of all patient and associate information

Required Education, Skills and Experience:

MINIMUM

  • High school diploma or GED, or equivalent
  • Phlebotomist certification 
  • Six [6] months of on-the-job training or equivalent experience

TARGET

  • High school diploma or GED, or equivalent
  • Phlebotomist certification 
  • Six [6] months of laboratory experience

Responsibilities

1.       Perform venipuncture or capillary puncture on patients of all ages. 2.       Follow sterile procedure appropriate technique and approved collection equipment to obtain required specimens for testing. 3.       Label specimens correctly and deliver to proper testing area. 4.       Process sample for test analysis for waived and moderate tests. 5.       Process all specimens requiring preparation for referral to reference labs. 6.       Perform clerical duties including logging, filing, answering telephones and taking messages. 7.       Maintain laboratory report and files in orderly and proper condition. 8.       You will perform other responsibilities as may be assigned. 

Qualifications

·         High school diploma or GED ·         Completion of phlebotomy course through an accredited phlebotomy program ·         Six [6] months of on-the-job training or equivalent experience
