We are seeking a self-motivated, independent, intellectual, experienced accounting professional to add to our rapidly growing team. In this highly visible and dynamic position, you will partner with finance leadership to build out and establish the controls and accounting function infrastructure required to support business growth and profitability.  This includes creating and ensuring the consistent application of accounting-related policies, preparing relevant financial statements and reports including tax statements and coordination of audit activities.

This is an office based/remote position based in Dallas, Texas. (if relevant: a 4/1 hybrid work schedule available).


The Role:
   This position includes, but is not limited to, the following responsibilities:

  • Lead the accounting team in the preparation of financial statements, including monthly, quarterly, and annual reports. Oversee the preparation of balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements, and investor reports.
  • Ensure accurate, timely, and GAAP-compliant financial reporting to senior management, investors, and regulatory authorities. Review financial reports for accuracy and completeness.
  • Manage the overall financial operations of the fund, including investor contributions, distributions, capital calls, and the coordination of cash flow activities.
  • Oversee property and portfolio valuations, ensuring that assets are accurately valued in compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Ensure the funds’ tax compliance, including preparation and review of K-1 forms, partnership allocations, and tax filings. Oversee the relationship with external tax advisors to ensure accurate reporting of fund transactions.
  • Lead the coordination of the annual audit process, working closely with external auditors to ensure that audits are completed on time and to the highest standard. Prepare audit schedules and related supporting documentation.
  • Manage relationships with investors, providing detailed financial reports and addressing any investor inquiries related to the fund’s financial performance.
  • Ensure that the funds comply with all regulatory requirements, including but not limited to SEC regulations, and ensure proper internal controls are in place.
  • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of accountants, ensuring that the team is aligned with best practices and efficient in their daily operations.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement changes to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of fund accounting operations.
  • Assist in the implementation of technology and systems initiatives.

 

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field is required
  • CPA (active) designation required
  • 8 - 10 years of progressive accounting and financial reporting experience, including at least 5 years in a leadership role required
  • Experience working in a publicly traded company, Big 4 accounting firm, private equity-backed or large, complex private companies is preferred
  • Deep expertise in U.S. GAAP and financial statement preparation required
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex consolidations in a multi-entity environment
  • Strong track record of building, leading, and developing high-performing teams
  • Excellent executive communication skills and ability to distill complex accounting into business terms
  • Proficiency in financial reporting software and ERP systems (Yardi)
  • Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic, and evolving environment
