What we seek:  

OCH is currently looking for a responsible Landscape Maintenance Worker to assist with the maintenance of OCH properties. Reporting to the Property Manager, the Landscape Maintenance Worker will help to upkeep and maintain our properties to create a sense of pride for our tenants living in our communities. 

Landscape Maintenance Worker with OCHC: 

Providing excellent service on the front line so our tenants can feel a sense of pride and ownership living in our communities is a main priority at our organization. As the Landscape Maintenance Worker, you will play a key role in ensuring our communities are clean and safe. 

 

As a Landscape Maintenance Worker, some of the things you will do include: 

·             Clean and remove debris from Ottawa Community Housing sites. 

·             Operate mechanical landscape equipment. 

·             Weed and maintain shrub and flower beds.  

·             Cut and trim grass areas and prune shrubs.  

·             Plant flowers, shrubs prepare and seed grass areas.  

·             Other related tasks may be assigned as required.

What you bring:  

Education & Experience:  

A typical candidate will have the following qualifications and experience.Exceptional candidates with different qualifications will be considered at the discretion of the employer if demonstrated experience, knowledge, and ability warrant.  

·             Minimum Grade 10 or equivalent plus relevant training in landscape maintenance. 

·             A minimum of 12 months experience in landscape maintenance. 

·             Health and safety training required by legislation and by OCH. 

·             Demonstrated knowledge of methods and techniques of landscape maintenance as illustrated by previous work experience and practical testing. 

·             Working knowledge of applicable Occupational Health and Safety legislation. 

·             General knowledge of corporate policies and procedures related to health and safety. 

·             Working knowledge of hand and power tools and tractor operation. 

 

Skills and abilities:  

·             Ability to communicate effectively with tenants and all work related contacts. 

·             Ability and skills to perform routine maintenance tasks. 

·             Ability to work as part of a team. 

·             Ability to follow instructions and work without close supervision. 

·             Must possess the physical and technical capabilities to perform the duties of the position. 

 

Other requirements:  

·             Satisfactory Criminal Records Check  

·             Must possess a valid class “G” driver’s license or equivalent. 

 

Work conditions: 

This is a full-time (40 hours per week) on-site position.
