Pay Grade:  Administrative and Professional Scale  Grade A06

Work Calendar:  All 12 Month Staff

FLSA Status:  Exempt

 

GENERAL PURPOSE

Under the direction of the Director of Talent Development, the Coordinator of Talent Development plans, develops, coordinates, facilitates, and monitors professional growth initiatives for all employees of Stafford County Public Schools (“Stafford Schools”). This role collaborates with and advises division stakeholders on the design and delivery of staff development programs, establishes clear learning objectives, evaluates the impact of professional learning, and supports projects across the Office of Human Resources and Talent Development (“HRTD”) to advance the goals of the Stafford Schools Strategic Plan.

 

FOCUS AREA- INSTRUCTION & GROWTH

The Coordinator of Instruction & Growth is responsible for planning, coordinating, and implementing targeted projects and initiatives that support systemic school improvement across the district. A key component of the role is the development, delivery, and evaluation of high-quality professional learning and the coordination of instructional coaching initiatives across the division, aligned with identified school and district needs. The Coordinator works to strengthen instructional practices, build leadership capacity, and foster continuous growth. The role ensures all improvement initiatives are strategic, data-informed, and aligned with federal, state, and district priorities to enhance student achievement and school performance.

 

MAIN JOB TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Contributes to division wide systemic process of professional learning

  • Supports school and district improvement priorities through development of professional learning opportunities for teachers, leaders, and support staff
  • Collaborates with all stakeholders to identify professional needs and coordinates professional learning opportunities.
  • Assesses the impact of professional learning opportunities, including course evaluations and systems for monitoring effective implementation and needed follow-up support
  • Maintains and monitors the division wide learning management system for planning, managing, delivering and tracking of professional development opportunities for all staff
  • Establishes learning objectives and goals for staff development sessions and develops training outlines and timelines

Contributes to division wide systemic process of instructional coaching and        school improvement

  • Coordinate and oversee division-wide instructional coaching initiatives to strengthen instructional practices and support school improvement efforts.
  • Collaborate with principals, instructional coaches, and teacher leaders to align coaching strategies with school improvement plans and district priorities.
  • Support schools in developing and sustaining coaching structures (SLST) and professional learning communities (PLCs) that promote continuous improvement.
  • Use data to monitor coaching effectiveness, assess needs, and evaluate the impact on teacher practices and student outcomes.
  • Manage timelines, deliverables, and compliance for coaching-related projects and school-based improvement initiatives.
  • Develop and curate resources, tools, and frameworks to support instructional coaches and school teams in their work.
  • Serve as a liaison between the district and external partners, agencies, or consultants involved in instructional coaching or school improvement efforts.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Master’s degree in a field related to instruction; degrees with an emphasis in curriculum or instructional leadership.
  • Hold or be eligible for a Postgraduate Professional License issued by the Virginia Department of Education.
  • An understanding of instructional strategies for the adult learner and at least two years of professional development or coaching experience educating teachers or other adults with productivity using the following modes: modeling, one-on-one, small group, or large group.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience with demonstrated experience in designing and delivering professional learning.
  • Experience with innovative change management within K-12 settings.
  • Significant experience with coaching teachers to create change of practice and support student growth.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Work environment is inside an office, with moderate noise, temperatures that are controlled, and no exposure to chemicals or other negative air quality elements.
  • The work is light work, requiring exertion of up to 20 pounds of force to move or lift objects.
