PURPOSE

Provide instructional services necessary to educate all students to high standards that align with district, state, and federal requirements, guidelines, and standards.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must possess a valid Indiana teaching license covering Elementary

REPA/REPA 3, Rules 46/47 Licensure Options:

  • Elementary Generalist K-6
  • Prefer Montessori Accreditation or Administrative Accreditation through AMS

 

Must possess knowledge of effective practices, including principles, theories, procedures, and techniques used in lesson plan development and classroom instruction.

 

  • Collaborate with Stakeholders: Collaborate with classroom teachers and instructional coach to implement Montessori Philosophy best practices. Partner with teachers to align Montessori Philosophy with grade-level standards and district curriculum. Develop Montessori units of study and align core subject areas.

 

  • External Partnerships and Building a Strong Community: Work to establish external partnership with universities and coordinate observations at area schools for teachers during their practicum or when needed. Arrange observations of Bunche teachers for university or high school students of  Montessori classrooms. Provide tours to families that are interested in the program or that have been accepted through the lottery.

 

  • Support Classrooms with Montessori Instruction: Help integrate Montessori and FWCS curriculum into all classrooms. Support teachers and instructional assistants by modeling Montessori lessons and classroom expectations.  Maintain materials and supplies for the Montessori classrooms and interdisciplinary units.  Meet and collaborate with teachers and assistants on a regular basis to look at data, observation information, student growth and support.

 

  • Coordinate Montessori Professional Learning Events: Plan and coordinate school-wide events connected to Montessori programming. Coordinate parent education events. Support and implement professional development for teachers and assistants. Develop relationships within the Montessori community by attending or presenting at events such as the United Montessori Schools of Indiana Fall conference, AMS school accreditation visits, etc.

 

  • American Montessori Society (AMS) Certification: Collaborate with administrative team to ensure Towles meets UMSI and AMS standards.  Lead the pursuit of acquiring UMSI and AMS validation or accreditation. 
  • Effective Internal and External Communication: Review all published Montessori Materials for the school: brochures, TV spots, newsletters, newspaper articles, etc… Contribute to monthly newsletter, coordinate with related arts staff’s contributions to the monthly newsletters and help create/maintain the school-wide Facebook and Instagram page
