Part-time Substitute Hourly Security Officer
REPORTS TO: Coordinator of Safety, Security and Emergency Management, Principal and Superintendent.
JOB GOAL: The function of security is to maintain a safe environment on the school property and to prevent physical injury, damage and vandalism toward people and property.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Constantly checks the building while on duty.
Periodically drives around the building and the grounds.
Periodically checks all outside buildings including garages, storage sheds, bleachers, press box and refreshment stand and ticket booths.
Call the police or other emergency office as needed.
Assists visitors by giving directions and needed explanations.
Assists law enforcement officers as needed
Confers with superiors and appropriate administrators on matters of concern.
Assists with direction of traffic both within and without the building as needed when school is used for after hour functions or events.
Supervises morning arrival and dismissal, as assigned.
Investigates complaints, suspicious behavior, improper conditions or any other occurrences that would endanger school personnel, students, and/or school property and equipment.
Attend safety and security meetings and in-service training sessions as requested.
Maintains all applicable certifications and endorsements as assigned by the Superintendent or designee accordingly.
Ability to obtain retired Police Officers Permit to Carry credentials for the State of New Jersey NJSA-2C:39-6(l).
PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS:
Must be in good health and able to perform assigned duties.
Must have a physical examination upon being hired, as requested by the Board of Education or administration.
Must hold a valid New Jersey driver’s license.
Must be able to work well with school and office personnel as well as district administration, faculty and staff.

The range of the hourly wage for this position is $30 per hour, not to exceed 25 hours, not benefit eligible.
