Major/Essential Functions
- Advise students in the selection of study abroad programs in assigned advising portfolio that meets student academic, personal, and professional goals. Maintain electronic files for advisees, and where necessary, paper copies. Ensure students complete all aspects of the study abroad process including application(s), course registration, medical clearance, pre-departure orientation, and more. Manage programs in assigned advising region. Liaise with program partners to maintain information on all assigned programs and portfolios.
- Promote study abroad opportunities by presenting to classrooms and organizations, creating and distributing promotional materials, attending campus resources fairs, and participating in other recruitment activities. Serves as a resource for students and their families regarding study abroad programs and policies.
- Manage student groups and campus volunteers. This includes, but is not limited to, the (re)creation of the Study Abroad Peer Advisors (SAPA), ISA Global Ambassadors, AIFS Ambassadors, or any other partner provider peer group. Liaise with current on campus student groups which include, but are not limited to, the Engineering Diplomats and the Rawls Ambassadors.
- Assist with the monitoring of academic credit on study abroad programs, from credit pre-approval to post-program credit posting. Work collaboratively with Counselors and campus stakeholders to troubleshoot credit issues, as needed.
- Assist with the coordination of the Study Abroad Competitive Scholarship program to include monitoring student applications, providing applicant information to Scholarship Committee members, and organizing Committee meeting.
- Assists in organizing annual events for the Study Abroad Unit. Tasks may include scheduling, room reservations, advertising, prepping materials, and follow-up with target audiences.
- Attend relevant trainings, meetings, and orientations; attends conferences and other events for professional development. Demonstrates commitment to continuous learning on best practices in international education.
- Assist with supervising student employees.
