$29.01 to $31.91 hourly.  Actual salary negotiable based on experience and qualifications.  North Area/Port St. John/Port St. John WWTP.  Work schedule is Monday through Friday 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and includes standby, overtime, and holidays as needed.  Performs skilled technical work supervising the operation and routine maintenance of a Class "B" or smaller wastewater treatment plant facility.  The work involves supervising the daily activities of other treatment plant staff and the compilation of required records and reports.  General supervision is provided to Treatment Plant Operator/Mechanics.

 

REQUIREMENTS:  High School Diploma or its equivalent, as required by the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP), PLUS four (4) years of experience as a certified operator in the operation of a wastewater treatment plant facility.  Associates degree in a science-related field OR successful completion of two (2) years [30 semester (45 quarter) hours = one (1) year] of college-level coursework in a science-related field is preferred.  Supervisory experience is preferred.  Two (2) years of experience in the mechanical repair of wastewater treatment and pumping equipment, including pumps, motors, and valves is preferred.  SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:  Must possess, or obtain prior to employment, a valid Florida driver’s license and maintain said license during the term of employment.  Must possess, or obtain prior to employment, an active Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) Class B or above Wastewater license and maintain said license during the term of employment.  Must be able to pass an OSHA-compliant respiratory physical for wearing a self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA), in accordance with the requirements of 29 CFR 1910.134.  Must be physically capable at all times of properly wearing and utilizing all required respiratory equipment, which may include a SCBA, and any other required personal protective equipment (PPE).  In the event a hurricane, major storm, natural or man-made disaster which may threaten the area, the employee will be required to perform emergency duties as directed.
