The role
Clifford Chance US LLP is seeking a Commercial Pricing Manager – Americas L&DR to support our Litigation Dispute and Resolution ("L&DR") practice group. This role will be significant in the Firm's strategic pricing objectives, commercial standards, and pricing governance in relation to matter pricing. This will include but is not limited to billing rates and alternative fee arrangement administration, as well as profitability evaluations on legal matters. This role will be based in our Washington or Houston office and will report to the Director of Commercial Finance with a dotted line to the Regional CFO and L&DR Regional Practice Area Director.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Act as a trusted advisor to Americas L&DR partners to formulate pricing, develop negotiation strategies, and support pricing negotiations on behalf of the Firm.
- Identify opportunities to improve commercials on current client, work type and matter opportunities.
- Produce pricing models and negotiation strategies for matter pricing opportunities and provide support throughout the pricing process. In some instances, provide support for client panel pricing
- Deliver pricing support, reporting and analysis with a focused, coordinated and consistent approach.
- Work with Partners to increase the variety of alternative fee arrangements the firm is offering to clients.
- Undertake internal matter pricing review benchmarking.
- Coordinate local pricing committee and submit proposals to local and global pricing committees.
- Ensure adherence to the Firm's commercial standard and pricing governance.
- Contribute to governance tools and processes in line with market developments.
- Collaborate and support the regional and global pricing teams and act as an active contributor to international pricing initiatives, as well as sharing knowledge and best practice
- Collaborate with various departments such as Business Development Finance and other Business Professional functions
- Raise commercial awareness with partners and influence their pricing decision making on strategic fee deals (both panels and matters).
- Deliver commercial awareness training to fee earners and Business Professionals.
Your experience
- 5+ years of relevant experience in pricing in a professional services firm or law firm preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or equivalent required; MBA preferred.
- Must have experience in scenario modelling/compiling pricing proposals and understanding the levers to deliver client value and commercially viable pricing.
- Must possess a strong understanding of the fundamental elements of pricing.
- Must have a global mindset and perspective.
- Proven track record of developing advisory relationships with key stakeholders and senior leadership with the ability to influence decisions and outcomes at the senior level.
- Must be able to work with large volumes of data and possess advanced proficiency in Excel.
- Must be commercially astute and a strong negotiator who can hold/protect margin in contract discussions whilst taking on responsibility for liaising with client procurement functions.
- Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced and growing environment, surrounded by strong and demanding personalities.
- Facilitate making effective decisions using sound judgment.
- Ability to work under pressure and prioritize competing demands to meet deadlines.
- Excellent organizational and client service skills
- Strong attention to detail, problem solving and analytical skills.
- Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must be a strong communicator who can explain commercials with sufficient gravitas to influence senior stakeholder decisions.
- Ability to collaborate with other colleagues within a global, matrix organization.
- Must be able to adhere and comply to the Firm's Agile Working Policy which requires employees to work from the office at least three days each calendar week.
- Must be independently legally authorized to work in the United States.
Clifford Chance US LLP offers a comprehensive benefits and compensation package. The salary range for this role is $175,000-$200,000. The actual salary will be commensurate with the candidate's qualifications and relevant experience.
