POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for administrative duties related to school nursing and coordinates care for all BJA. Provides leadership in establishing and implementing nursing policies for BJA. Provide school-related primary center and elementary school student health care and work alongside the MS/HS nurse.

Key Results Area #1 Effectively manage health needs of Primary Center (PC) and elementary school (ES) students during the school day

  • Responding to health needs of students during the school day
  • Effectively communicate with students, parents, teachers, and administration regarding student health needs
  • Oversee medical details for field trips
  • Manage emergency medications
  • Graciously maintains school policies
  • Communicates the religious beliefs of BJA to students and student affiliates
  • Answers questions concerning faith, doctrine, and creed of BJA to constituents, students, or those inquiring about BJA

 

Key Results Area #2 Effectively manage medical-related records of PC and ES to maintain legal compliance

  • Manage student health forms
  • Manage student immunization forms
  • Maintain accurate charting of medical events
  • Manage emergency training and planning for 1st-5th SRP (standard response protocol)

 

Key Results Area #3 Effectively advise and implement activities related to school nursing across BJA

  • Maintains CPR instructor status and coordinates CPR training for all levels
  • Establishes school health clinic policy and trains and evaluates the MS/HS nurse on these policies
  • Recommends policies and procedures that will protect the health and safety of BJA
  • Establishes medication management and diversion prevention systems
  • Create protocols and conduct training for any employees assisting in the clinic
  • Establish a plan to manage health related needs for new applicants
  • Oversee the management of student immunization forms (K3-12th)
  • Perform DSS assessments and TB tests for the Primary Center and CDC employees.
  • Perform TB tests for all new BJA employees.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Pediatric/adolescent nursing experience strongly preferred
  • School nursing experience helpful
  • Comfortable in a digital environment and able to learn new systems as needed
