The Ursinus College History Department seeks to hire an Outreach Coordinator and Social Media Manager to begin immediately. Applicants should possess strong writing, communication, and time management skills and should have experience utilizing a variety of social media networks. Demonstrated ability to work independently is essential. Prior experience working with college webpages/social media accounts is desirable, though not required.   

 

Responsibilities:  

Managing the History Department’s social media accounts and posting weekly on platforms such as Instagram/Threads and X throughout the academic year. 

Working with faculty to develop advertising for departmental events. We hope that the Outreach Coordinator and Social Media Manager can offer some creative input on how best to reach students. 

Meeting weekly or biweekly with Phi Alpha Theta for communication regarding events. 

Updating and maintaining the History Department’s bulletin boards. This will likely include outreach to current students and recent alums (with the guidance of History faculty). 

 

Requirements:  

Strong writing and general communication skills. 

Demonstrated independence and self-motivation.  

Creativity.  

Familiarity with social media networks and ability to engage the public professionally.  

  

Preferred Qualifications:  

History major or minor, or a major in a related field (e.g. English, Politics/IR, Anthro-Soc, etc.).
