Job Summary:

As a mid-market and environmental commodities analyst, you will take a front-office role supporting the operations of our Energy Management Team and developing commercial acumen. Responsibilities will center around the growth of power, environmental, and mid-marketing commodity trading. Familiarity with energy markets is expected, and candidate will learn domain specific knowledge and be expected to grow rapidly within the team. Analyst will assist commercial operations analyst, act as a back-up and become familiar with the operation and marketing of REV assets.

Job Functions:

Deal Flow and Contract Management:

  • Manage contractual workflow for Energy Management team, such as ISDAs, RECs, power and other legal review items 
  • Work across internal and external stakeholders to move transactions to completion 
  • Support commercial and contractual terms and negotiations 
  • REC operations; settlements and delivery 

Commercial Operations Support:

  • Support and provide vacation coverage for commercial operations, ETRM validation, settlements, P&L analytics, ISO operations and other ad-hoc tasks 

Pricing & Portfolio Management:

  • Support structuring of complex power and environmental commodities transactions   
  • Perform research of market fundamentals, regulatory events and market opportunities 

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics or related field. Advanced degree a plus.
  • 2-4 years of experience collecting, validating and analyzing data from various sources, preferably in energy/commodity markets.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience reviewing and managing contractual workflow for items such as ISDA’s, RECs and other legal items.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience analyzing market trends, commodity prices and/or environmental factors to provide insight with strategies and trading opportunities, with a desire to achieve an advanced level of knowledge in commercial markets.
  • Strong proficiency in Excel, Python experience a plus.
  • Strong intellectual curiosity, taking ownership to research new products and market opportunities.
  • Independent research projects, and coding experience or willingness to learn are a big plus
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Ability to prioritize and meet critical deadlines with a sense of urgency.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to sit/stand at a desk, using a computer workstation. 
  • The employee is occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach with hands and arms, walk; lift push or pull objects up to 20 pounds. 
  • Must be able to handle long periods of screen time and typing. 
  • Must be able to have effective time management skills, with the ability to concentrate for long periods of time.
