What You'll Do (Day to Day Job Duties)
The Spine Surgery Sales & Clinical Specialist provides training, logistic and Operating Room coverage on all Altus Spine surgery systems. The Spine Surgery Sales & Clinical Specialist will become a recognized “expert” on the functionality and clinical use of all Altus Spine surgery systems. The Spine Surgery Sales & Clinical Specialist will train Operating Room and Sterile Processing Department staff on proper use, cleaning, configuration and maintenance of the surgical equipment. The Spine Surgery Sales & Clinical Specialist will order restock equipment, inspect and coordinate processing of the equipment through proper hospital departments to ensure that needed surgical systems are available. The will deal with a diverse group of important internal contacts to coordinate, plan and prioritize surgical set logistics.
- As a requirement of employment, this role requires the employee to have current hospital access credentialing at the facilities in which Altus Spine does business.
- Coordinate equipment needs for scheduled surgeries.
- Personally responsible to make sure that sets are available for every surgery.
- Delivers sets and performs set check-in’s at all facilities and communicates set check-in to operations at least 24 hours prior to surgery via email.
- Leads logistics process to ensure that all surgical systems are fully stocked, maintained and available for surgeries, performs set audits at a minimum of once per quarter or as requested by Altus.
- Creates basic product, sales and marketing presentations for in-service training meetings.
- Must work on-site of Altus Spine corporate office when not covering cases.
- Follows Altus SOP for the recording and tracking of work hours.
- As a requirement of employment, this role requires the employee to possess a valid driver’s license.
- Performs other duties or special projects as required or as assigned.
- Complies with all Company policies and procedures.
Your Impact (CORE Responsibilities)
- Must be available 24/7 for case coverage for all staff surgeons.
- Assumes role of “expert” in the configuration, availability, and use of all Altus surgical systems.
- Provides Operating Room staff coverage and training on use of surgical systems.
- Provides in-service training for Operating Room and Sterile Processing Department staff members.
- Pursues hospital approvals and approval updates for new product offerings.
- Maintains documented training of relevant Altus Spine Procedures.
- Acts as a liaison with other departments and outside agencies, including high-level staff such as CEOs, presidents, and vice presidents.
- Assists with new customer onboarding, port-trial case follow-ups, and additional account management activities to support business development and marketing teams while in office.
- Contacts potential users to identify orthopedic equipment needs, approval process and gatekeepers.
What You Bring (Qualifications)
- BS Degree or 2-3 years of equivalent experience.
- Medical device experience.
- 1-3 years of Operating Room experience.
- 1-3 years internal sales or customer interface experience.
- General administrative experience.
Preferred:
- Advanced knowledge of spine anatomy
- Background in medical device industry is a plus
