ABOUT THE ROLE

This role’s primary focus will be to gain the skills and job related education in various forms of industrial equipment and manufacturing processes. The apprentice will be given the opportunity to learn how to operate, set-up, monitor, and control different types of powder metal presses.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• During the Apprenticeship, the Apprentice will receive work experience and job related education in all phases of the occupation, including safe work practices, necessary to develop the skill and proficiency of the position.
• The apprentice will be transferred from one operation to another as proficiency warrants.
• Shift assignments will vary based on mentor availability, training requirements, work demand and related instruction schedules.
• Apprentices will receive training in various work experiences including:
  • Safe operation of tools and equipment
  • Quality Assurance Principles
  • Environmental, Health, and Safety Compliance Requirements
  • Critical Thinking and Problem Solving
  • Use of various measurement tools
  • Metallurgy
  • Preventative Maintenance
• Must follow all safety rules and keep work area clean and in an orderly condition.
• Wear all personal protective equipment as required by the safety policy.
• Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned

WHAT ELSE YOU’LL NEED TO KNOW

• The youth apprentice must be in their junior or senior year of High School.
• Completion of technological and/or industrial equipment classes preferred.

Working Conditions: Work is performed in a typical manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, heat, dust, dirt, oil and grease, with several elements continuously present to the extent of being objectionable.  Shift assignments will vary based on mentor availability, training requirements, work demand and related instruction schedules.
