Position: Contractual Licensed Social Worker- Women and Infant Supportive Health Program (WISH) and Maternal and Infant Health Program (MIHP) 

Department: Maternal and Child Health 

Agency Contact: Director of Maternal Child Health 

Contract Rate: $43/hour 

Hours of Work:  

Contractors are expected to work non-traditional hours as needed to meet client needs for direct services, coordinated with the designated agency contact. Occasional evening or weekend work may be required. 

Beginning in 2026, the estimated time commitment for this contractual role is approximately 10 hours per week, structured as follows: 

Home Visitation Services: 

  • Approximately 6–8 hours per week, with visits scheduled during evenings and weekends as needed to accommodate family availability.

Case Staffing and Coordination: 

  • Approximately 1–2 hours per week, conducted during standard business hours.

PRIMARY FUNCTION: YWCA Kalamazoo is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Licensed Social Worker to join our Women and Infant Supportive Health Program, (WISH) and Maternal and Infant Health Program (MIHP) on a contractual basis. This role focuses on providing in-home support to pregnant individuals and families with infants, promoting healthy outcomes through education, advocacy, and resource coordination. The ideal candidate is passionate about maternal and child health, culturally competent, and committed to advancing equity in Kalamazoo County. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  1. Master’s degree in social work (MSW) from an accredited institution. 
  2. Current LMSW or LLMSW license in the state of Michigan.
  3. Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for home visits. 
  4. Experience in maternal and child health, public health, or family services preferred. 
  5. Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills. 
  6. Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  7. Commitment to trauma-responsive care and racial equity.

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  1. Conduct regular home visits to pregnant individuals and families with infants up to two years old.
  2. Complete psychosocial assessments and develop individualized care plans. 
  3. Provide emotional support, education, and referrals to community resources (e.g., housing, food, mental health, parenting support). 
  4. Collaborate with nurses, community health workers, and other MIHP team members to ensure holistic care. 
  5. Monitor progress and adjust care plans as needed to meet evolving family needs.
  6. Advocate for clients within healthcare, social service, and legal systems. 
  7. Maintain accurate and timely documentation in compliance with MIHP and WISH standards. 
  8. Participate in team meetings, trainings, and community outreach events.

WORKING CONDITIONS AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

 

  1. Services may be performed at YWCA facilities, client homes, or community locations.
  2. Physical requirements include sitting, standing, bending, and lifting (up to 20 lbs.).
  3. Specialized equipment, machines, or vehicles used: computer, tablet
  4. Frequent travel to and from offsite locations and events 
  5. Occasional exposure to bloodborne pathogens, airborne pathogens, or infectious materials

 

 

TRAINING REQUIREMENTS: 

  1. Orientation to YWCA Personnel Policies, Mission, Purpose and Core Values.
  2. Orientation to Home Visitation, Confidentiality, Mandatory Reporting.
  3. Other appropriate training and in-service which will occur during employment.
  4. Mandatory full-day orientations: 10/22/2025, 10/23/2025; 11/05/2025; and 03/10/2026.
