The Los Angeles County Office of Education (LACOE) is seeking detail-oriented individuals with clerical accounting experience for the Senior Accounting Clerk position.

The Senior Accounting Clerk performs clerical and technical accounting work involved in the maintenance, review, and processing of accounting, financial or statistical records, reports, and accounts.

The Well Qualified Candidate Will Possess the Following

Knowledge:
  • Practices, procedures, and terminology used in accounting, financial and statistical record keeping systems
  • Applicable federal, state, local laws, and policies
  • The use of automated systems for processing accounting, purchasing, and payroll
  • Current office practices, procedures, equipment and technology

Required Education and Experience
Education: Graduation from high school or equivalent.

Experience: Two years of clerical accounting experience in maintaining and processing accounting, financial, and statistical information.

Equivalency Provision: An Associate’s degree or equivalent college units (60 semester or 90 quarter units) with major coursework in accounting, business administration, or other fields closely related to the job requirements of this classification, from an institution of higher learning recognized by the Council of Higher Education Accreditation, may substitute for one year of the required experience. Foreign degrees and credit units require translation and equivalency established by an agency recognized by the Commission on Teacher Credentialing.

Additional Requirements: A valid California driver’s license and the availability of private transportation or the ability to obtain transportation between job sites may be required.

Hybrid remote schedules may be available.

Selection Process
Candidates who meet the minimum requirements above will be invited to participate in an examination that may consist of a multiple choice exam, performance exam, and structured interview.

Selection and promotion are based on a competitive examination process. Candidates who pass all exam parts are ranked according to overall exam score and placed on an eligibility (hiring) list. Vacant positions are filled from the top three ranks. Eligibility lasts for 12 months; however, additional recruitment may occur under a separate bulletin with additional candidates being merged onto the eligibility list. Some positions that involve public contact may require bilingual proficiency for which selective certification may apply (Education Code 45277.5). In addition, the eligibility list resulting from this examination may be used to fill vacancies in related job classifications for which no eligibility list exists (Education Code 45272).
